Judith Marselle (Ness) McLaughlin |
|
Judith Marselle (Ness) McLaughlin, age 88, of Kermit, passed away on
Saturday, June 05, 2010 in Monahans, TX. Mrs. McLaughlin was
born on December 12, 1921 in Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County,
Minnesota to Daniel and Annie (Otterson) Ness.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son:
Richard McLaughlin of TX; one sister: Della Rudd of Moorhead, MN;
one brother: Bud Ness of Fergus Falls, MN; two grandchildren: Brenna
McLaughlin Coltrane of Kermit, TX and Meghan McLaughlin Flores of
Hobbs, MN; three great-grandchildren: Branson, Daniel and Carolyn
all of Kermit, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Clyde J. McLaughlin; one
daughter: Carolyn Rae McLaughlin; her parents: Daniel and Annie Ness
and one brother: Jerry Ness.

Yesmit Vasquez Rodriguez, age 20, of Kermit,
passed away Monday, 06, 2010; she was born Monday, March 12, 1990 in
Odessa, TX to Felipe and Anna (Vasquez) Rodriguez. Yesmit loved
dancing, listening to music and spending time with her daughter.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her
husband: Rojelio Lomeli of Kermit, TX; one daughter: Aylina Lya
Rodriguez of Kermit, TX; her parents: Felipe and Anne Rodriguez of
Kermit, TX; one brother: Felipe Neri Rodriguez of Kermit, TX; one
sister: Verenis Rodriguez of Kermit, TX; grandparents: Florencio and
Albina Vasquez and Mauricio and Ester Rodriguez.
Service will be 10:00 am,
Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit.
Officiated by Elder Rafeal Hernandez. Pallbearers will be Timmy
Sapien, Juan Leyva, Moises Leyva, Jose Luis Vasquez Jr., Ricardo
Rodriquez Jr. Armando Ramos, Armando Rodriquez and Jeremy Vela.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Fabian Vasquez, Felipe Rodriguez Jr.,
Joe Eric Galindo, Matthew Vasquez, Rodrigo Vasquez, Ezequiel Garcia,
David Galindo and Izaia Vasquez. Interment will follow at Kermit
Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services
Funeral Parlor.

Mary Frances Clark |
|
Mary Frances Clark, age 82, of Kermit, passed
away Monday, June 7, 2010, at her home. Frances was born Thursday,
April 19, 1928 in Livingston, Polk County, TX to the late Melvin and
Eloise (King) Feagin. She married the love of her life, Worley Clark
in August 1967.
Frances was a very busy lady, never having any
idle time. A member of St Peter’s Episcopal Church, she was the
first female and the first write-in candidate ever to be elected as
Winkler County Judge and held the term from 1979 thru 1994. She was
the first female accepted as a member to the Kermit Downtown Lion’s
Club and the Kermit Rotary Club and held the position of past
President of the Lion’s Club
Frances was also a member of the Kermit Chamber
of Commerce and was on their Board of Directors and a member of the
Ambassador’s Club. She was voted Woman of the Year of the Women’s
Division of the Kermit Chamber of Commerce. In 1982, Frances was
elected President of the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission
and was a charter member of the Far West Texas County Judges and
Commissioners’ Association and Past President of the West Texas
County Judges and Commissioners’ Association. She was a lifetime
member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 339 and a member of
the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 6284. Frances was also a big supporter
of the Winkler County 4-H Program.
Frances and Worley spent a lot of time in Port
Isabel and South Padre Island enjoying their many friends.
Those left to cherish her love and memories are
her husband Worley Z Clark; one daughter, Melinda Nickless and
partner, Jim Moffett of Austin, one step-daughter, Londa Clark of
Houston, one son, Clay Milstead and wife, Annette of New Bern, N.C.
and one grandson, Marshall Milstead also of New Bern, N.C.
Frances was also preceded in death by her
sister, Kay McCurdy.
The family would like to give special thanks
and appreciation to all of the Caregivers our Mom has had over the
last several years.
A family visitation is scheduled 6 – 8 pm
Thursday, June 10 at the Funeral Home.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 AM
Friday, June 11, 2010 at Family Services Funeral Chapel with
Reverend Richard Osborne officiating. Interment will follow at
Kermit Cemetery.

Bessie Ellen (Geer) Crow |
|
Bessie Ellen (Geer) Crow, age 88, of Brownwood,
passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at her home. Bessie was born
Wednesday, March 15, 1922 in Bennett, TX to the late E. S. and
Fannie Geer. She married Edward Crow on December 21, 1939, and he
preceded her in death on October 4, 1976. Bessie was a very
private person, but loved being a grandmother. She was also a
member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are
her son: Richard Crow and wife Terri of Kermit; two daughters:
Deloros Kinnaird and husband Gordon of Yale, OK and Sandra Forga and
husband Dwight of Brownwood, TX ; one brother: Floyd Geer and
wife Glenna of Abilene, TX; two sisters: Belva Jo Fowler and
husband Neal of Ft. Worth, TX and Jan Mitchell and husband Leon of
Kermit; eleven grandchildren: Charles Kinnaird, Natalie Meyer,
Deanna Cowell, Quint Gilbert, Wade Forga, Kyle Forga, Ryan Crow,
Lauren Crow, Danny Crow, Desiree Crow; and Darius Crow;
sixteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband:
Edward Crow; her parents: E.S. and Fannie Geer; two sisters:
Ima Jean Ferguson and Evadean Baker; and two grandsons: Lee
Crow and Scott Bradley Gilbert.
Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm
Friday, June 11, 2010 at Belvue Baptist Church with Reverend Bill
Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit
Cemetery. Leon Mitchell, Devall Trammell, Tim Strangel, Bobby
Dunham, Steve Brisco, and D.J. Bryan will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Betty Louise (Bates) Johnson
|
|
Betty Louise (Bates) Johnson, age 72, passed
from this life on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Hospice House in
Odessa. She was born in Hutchison County, Texas on Thursday, June
10, 1937 to Ralph Eugene and Oma Bates . She was a self employed
child care giver for many years. Betty loved spending time
with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include one daughter: Carolyn Hughes
of Kermit and one son: Billy Johnson of Kermit; one brother: Billy
Bates of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister: Sue Henson of Odessa; five
grandchildren: Ashley, Erica, Billy, David and Alexis; three
great-grandchildren: Jimmy James, Keyona and Tayshaun.
Those preceding her in death include: her
parents; one brother: Tommy Bates and one daughter: Patsy Johnson.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Monday, June 14, 2010
at Kermit Cemetery with the Rev. Henry Freund officiating.

Pauline “Odessa” Starritt, age 82, of Wink,
passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 in Monahans, TX. Pauline was
born on July 18, 1927 in Jayton, TX, to James and Katie (Butler)
Elliott.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She loved crossword puzzles, watching game shows, singing and
fishing. She had a special place in her heart for her dog “Baby
Girl”.
Those left to cherish her memory are son: James
R. Starritt and wife Debbie of Odessa; daughter: Pauline Kline of
Wink; brother: Richard Elliott and wife Jo of Floydada, TX; sister:
Mary Dorothy “Sister” Ferguson of Floydada; six grandchildren:
Jacque Kline McKee and husband Donnie, Jack Kline Jr., Chuck Kline
and wife Sarah, Paula Kline Barnett and husband Bill, Randee
Starritt and wife Jennifer, and Jason Starritt; six
great-grandchildren: Twila Robinson and husband Casey, Gary McKee,
J.J. Porter and wife Shana, C.J. Kline, Branda Kay Barnett, Cannon
Starritt and Braedon Starritt; two great-great-grandchildren:
Braydon McKee and Arian Loran Porter and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband:
Orville R. Starritt; her parents: James and Katie Elliott and seven
brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on
Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Wink,
TX officiated by Rev. Scott Seymour. Pallbearers will be: Billy
Barnett, Donnie McKee, Tommy Thomas, David Thomas, Rodney Ferguson
and Calvin Starritt. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to
Compass Hospice of Odessa at 1330 East 8th, Suite 410 Odessa, TX
79761.

Emily Claire (Carroll) Barron |
|
Emily Claire (Carroll) Barron, age 79, passed
from this life on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Hermann Memorial
City Hospital in Houston. She was born in Union Community, Alabama
on Sunday, July 27, 1930 to Marvin and Emma (Ponder) Carroll.
Survivors include three sons: Jerry
Barron of Katy, TX, Robert Barron of Frankfurt, Germany and Donald
Barron of Carmen, Mexico; one daughter: Gloria McKinney of
Bentonville, AK; one sister: Ouida Fay Hall of Alabama; ten
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, June 26,
2010 at Kermit Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Seymour officiating.

Rebecca Elizabeth Oglesby |
Rebecca
Elizabeth Oglesby was born on December 21, 1973 at Harris
Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, to Gordon and Elizabeth
Oglesby. Becky went to be with our Lord on June 28, 2010 at her
home in San Antonio, Texas. She attended Kermit Schools and
graduated from Kermit High School in 1992. She attended Odessa
College. Becky entered the work force and was known as a
hard, dependable worker. At the time of her death, she
worked at Groomer's Seafood in San Antonio. Her employers have
said that Becky was their best worker and favorite employee,
and that she is really missed by all who work there.
Becky always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh. She
loved all animals, but cats were her favorite. She was a big
doll collector and liked shopping in thrift stores and antique
shops for them. She loved her Lord and prayed daily for her
family. She attended the Castle Hills First Baptist Church in
San Antonio. Becky was preceded in death by her
grandparents Everett and Ruby Oglesby and Z.F. Kinnaird, and by
her dad Gordon Oglesby. We know she is in heaven now with
these precious loved ones. She is in good hands. She is
survived by her mom Elizabeth Oglesby, her brother Trey Oglesby,
her sister-in-law Amber Oglesby, her nephew Taylor Oglesby,
and grandmother Louise Kinnaird all of San Angelo, and her uncle
and aunt Gordon and Delores of Yale, Oklahoma and several
cousins. A memorial service was held for Becky on
Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Grape Creek Baptist Church in San
Angelo with Trey Oglesby and Pastor Brad Winchester
officiating. |

Shirley A. Coldiron, age 65, of Monahans, passed
away in Odessa on July 05, 2010. Shirley was born in Kermit on
January 14, 1945 to Willie and Clara (Cheek) Overcash.
She is survived by one son: Joe Lee Haney of
Kermit; one daughter: Clara Jane Graham of Monahans; two brothers:
Homer Hankins of Odessa and Billy Overcash of Pecos; five
grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Graveside Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm,
Friday July 09, 2010 at Kermit Cemetery, officiated by Dudley
Mullins. Services are entrusted to Family Services Funeral
Parlor.

Claudy Mae Gentry, 85, of Zwolle, LA passed
away on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Sabine Medical Center in Many,
LA.
She was born on Monday, June 29, 1925 in
Monroe, LA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John
Lewis Gentry and Midgie Beatrice Gentry; husband, Erick Jack
Gunter; daughter, Judy Gayle Barker; and brother, John Lewis
Gentry, Jr.
She is survived by two sons, William Shelby
“Bo” Gunter of Kermit and Ronnie Morgan Gunter and wife Lois of
Odessa; daughter, Jackie Conyer and husband Robert of Zwolle,
LA; one brother, Bill Gentry of Pollock, LA; three sisters,
Dorothy Campbell of Kermit, Mary Ann Tolar of Forest Hill, LA
and Martha Holloway of Oakdale, LA; special son-in-law, Jodie
Barker; three grandchildren, Dreama Dean, Robert Conyer, Jr. and
Judie Gunter; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria Dean and
Hayley Mankin.
The family will receive friends at Family
Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit on Thursday, July 15, 2010.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday, July 16, 2010 at
Family Services Chapel. Interment will follow at Kermit
Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services
Funeral Parlor.

Wayne
Harper, age 19, of Kermit, passed from this life on Friday, July 23,
2010. Wayne was born in
Pretoria, South Africa on March 28, 1991 to Luigi and Elize
(Haladay) Harper.
Wayne
was very kind hearted.
He loved children and animals, and was fond of his ferretts, “Shaka”
and “Diana”. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and hunting,
and working on cars and motorcycles.
He is
survived by his brother: Marland Harper of Gardendale; two sisters:
Dorean “Liz” Fisher of Midland, and Dorothy Kittley of Sweetwater;
grandparents: Eureka “Ouma” and Wayne “Oupa” Harper of Las Cruces,
NM; one uncle: Gary Harper and wife Lee Ann of Lewisville; one aunt:
Celeste Hudgens and husband John of El Paso; one niece: Elena; and
five nephews: Alex, Matthew, Preston, Orion and Gabriel.
He was
preceded in death by his parents: Luigi and Elize Harper. Wayne’s
heart was filled with love for his father. They were very close and
he missed him very much.
Funeral
services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the First
Baptist Church in Kermit, officiated by Brother Dudley Mullins.
Pallbearers will be: Marland Harper, Thomas Mathis, Bryan Vallie
Jr., Gary Harper and Eddie McCane. Services are entrusted to
Family Services Funeral Parlor.
Memorials may be sent to the International Dyslexia Association,
