James Howard
“Jim” Sanders, age 93, entered Heaven’s gates on
Friday, January
22, 2010.
He was born in
Mount Enterprise,
Texas
to Sol Kaplin Sanders and Mattie Louella (Gentry) Sanders on
May 20, 1916.
He was a member of the
Community
Church.
Jim was a
Corporal in the US Army during WWII.
He was a member of the Kermit Lodge #1258 AF & AM for over 50
years and was Past Commander of the American Legion.
He worked for Gulf Oil for over 40 years.
He was a soft hearted man who helped anyone he could.
He was known for his BBQ and was an avid hunter and
fisherman.

cherish his love and memory are his wife of 27 years:

Sandy Emmerson and husband Mike of Kermit; step-son:
Darwin Nunley and wife Jo Jan of Canyon, TX; two
grandchildren: Lacey

of Midland, TX; three step-grandchildren:
Scarlett Michelle Estlack of Clarendon, TX, and Patrick
Nunley and Spencer Nunley, both of Canyon, TX; and three step
great-grandchildren:
Maggie Nunley, Nathaniel Estlack and Daniel Estlack.
His parents:
Sol and Mattie “Big Mama” Sanders; first wife of 44 years:
Bettie Gorman Sanders; two brothers:
Delmar and Autry Sanders; and one sister:
Katherine S. Herbert; all preceded him on his Heavenly
journey.

at Family Services Funeral Chapel, officiated by The Rev. Henry
Freund. Honorary

Fields, and Mike Emmerson.

Geraldine Williams, age 81, passed away Saturday,
January 23, 2010 at her Kermit, TX residence. She was born in
San Saba, TX on March 25, 1928 to Elmer and Ollie (Gage) House.
She worked in furniture sales.
She loved going to the Jal, NM Senior Citizen’s
Center, playing cards and dominos, and enjoyed art and garage sales.
Memorials in her name may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
She is survived by her son: Gary Williams
and wife Elizabeth of Divide, CA; three daughters: Paula
Leathers and husband J.R. of Kermit, and Karla Immel and husband
Eugene “Tad” and Sharla Herrera, all of Jal, NM; three brothers:
Willard House and wife Donna of Kermit, E.M. House and wife Linda of
Goldthwaite, TX, and Jerry Mack House of San Saba, TX; one sister:
Anita Crown and husband Gene of Independence, NM; nine grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband: Farris “Ray” Williams,
and one sister: Willie Jean, precede her in death.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday,
January 30, 2010 at the Western Heritage Cowboy Church in
Goldthwaite, TX. Interment will follow at the Goldthwaite
Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services

Nannie Faye (Carleton) Harris |

Nannie Faye (Carleton) Harris, age 90, passed from
this life on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Monahans Managed Care
Center. She was born on November 27, 1919 in Proctor, TX to
Rufus and Willie (Hancock) Carleton. She married Dick Harris
in Proctor on February 12, 1939. He preceded her in death
November 3, 1978.
Mrs. Harris was a member of Temple Baptist Church
in Hobbs, NM. She enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, and a
fast paced game of Bingo, and Dominoes.
She is survived by her son: Gary Harris and
wife Barbara of Hobbs; six daughters: Jane Nichols and husband
J.B. of Seagraves, TX, Dixie Lamonda of Hobbs, Nan Skelton and
husband Paul of Kermit, Cherry James and husband Bill of Jal, Pat
Raines and husband Dennis of Hobbs, and Jo Bentle and husband Larry
of Hobbs; one brother: Edward Carleton and wife Jo of Austin;
fourteen grandchildren: Belinda Murrish, Joe Nichols, Penny
Sellers, Daxton Harris, Diane Leone, Cassie Lamonda, Tonya Bermea,
Holly Denny, Kendall James, Patrick Bentle, Richard Bentle, Jeff
Harris, and Jana Thomson; thirty great-grandchildren; and four
great-great grandchildren.

Carleton; husband: Dick Harris; two sons: Tony and Hogan
Harris; one daughter: Nelda Bentle; and one grandchild:
Winford John Raines, all precede her in death.
Graveside services to honor her memory will be
2:00 pm, Monday February 01, 2010 at Memorial Gardens in Hobbs,
officiated by Brother Alan Speed. Arrangements are entrusted

45, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at Kermit,
TX. She was born on
April 27, 1964 in Seminole, TX to Richard and Margaret (Griffin)
Oats.
She is survived by
her husband: Melvin
Davis of Aurora, CO; two sons: Brandon R. Combs of Iraq (with the
Army) and Benjamin R. Davis of Kermit, TX; two daughters: Bianca R.
Davis and Bai’lee J. Davis of Kermit, TX; mother: Margaret
(Griffin) Jones; father: Richard L. Oats; four brothers: Archie
Jones, Frankie Jones, Michael Jones and William Jones all of
Daingerfield, TX; six sisters: Deloris Brown and Mary Brown of
Abilene, TX, Kizzy Jones, Telisha Jones, and Pamela Jones of
Daingerfield, TX and, Lynn Gray of Cedar Hill, TX
and one grandchild: Ryleigh Jaden Lister.
She was preceded in
death by her stepmother: Ernestine Washington; grandmother: Lucil
Oats and sister: Carolyn Oats.

Patricia Florence
Schubert, age 77, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 06,
2010, at her Kermit residence, surrounded by loving family and
friends. She was born
in Richmond Hills, NY on April 23, 1932 to David Joseph Kearney and
Bridget Florence (Hanley) Kearney.
She married Arthur Harry Schubert on April 27, 1950 and
together they raised nine children. She was Roman Catholic.
While in New York, she worked as a secretary for Colliers
Encyclopedia Company.

Ramos, age 72, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Odessa, TX.
He was born March 28, 1937 in Ojinaga, Mexico to Jesus Ramos and
Isidra (Villalobos) Ramos. Mr. Ramos enjoyed hunting, farming and
listening to music.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include
his wife: Maria Ramos of Kermit; seven sons: Armando Ramos
and wife Poly of Odessa; Jesus Ramos and wife Anna of Kermit;
Samuel Ramos and wife Brenda of Andrews; Homar Ramos and wife Rosie
of Kermit; Edmundo Ramos of Kermit, Javier Ramos of Kermit, and
Aurelio Ramos and wife Rosa of Kermit; two daughters: Maria Campos
and husband Samuel of Kermit; Dora Arreola and husband Herminio of
Presidio, TX and Ninfa Polanco and husband Ramon of Andrews, two
brothers: Manuel Ramos and wife Vahola of Odessa and Jose Luis
Ramos of California; six sisters: Luisa Uriquidi of MX; Apolonia
Molina of Juarez, MX; Victorina Caballero of Odessa; Enedina
Orrosco and husband Thomas of Odessa; Manuela Carrillo of El Paso,
TX and Yolanda Carrasco of MX: thirty-six grandchildren and
twenty-three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his parents: Jesus and Isidra Ramos; one brother: Martin
Ramos; and three sisters: Teresa, Lucila and Trine.

Edmundo Ramos, Javier Ramos, Aurelio Ramos and Homar Ramos Jr.
Rosary will be said 7:00 pm Thursday, February
11, 2010 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit. Mass of
Christian Burial is 2:00 pm Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, officiated by Father Richard Waiwood.
Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements were

age 68, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in Kermit, TX.
He was born May 4, 1941 in Buckeye, AZ to William N. and Charlene
Buddy (Euchley) Vaughan.
Those left behind to
cherish his memory include his brother: Charles Vaughan of
Tallahassee, FL; one sisters: Jane Easley of Ellijay, GA; five
nieces: Vanessa Cass Ellijay, GA; Cheryl Farist of Ellijay, GA;
Charlene LaGroan of Lake City, TN; Susan Stovell of Monteray, CA and
Kathy Griffin of Cortez CO; five nephews: Curtis Easley of Ellijay,
GA; Tracey Easley of Ellijay, GA; Robert Vaughan of Woodville FL;
Charles Vaughan Jr. of AL and Ray Stuchman of CO; and several great
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his parents: William “Nick” and Charlene Buddy (Euchley)
Vaughan and one sister: Mary L. Brisbane.

February 15, 2010 at Northside Baptist Church in Kermit, TX

Jimmy D.
Parker Jr., age 58, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010 in Odessa,
TX. He was born June 25, 1951 in Roby, Texas to Jimmy and
Mineola (Morris) Parker. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family
and teaching others. He studied history and read books and
used his knowledge to win while playing Trivial Pursuit. He
was an avid Texas Rangers and Texas Longhorns fan. Jimmy loved
being outdoors playing golf or working in his garden. Jimmy
also was a fan of George Strait and Charlie Pride and loved to dance
to their music.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include
his wife: Williadean of Kermit, TX; three sons: John Parker
and wife Niffy of Marble Falls, TX, Andre Johnson and wife Dystine
of Kermit, TX, and Michael Oats and wife Kristen of Odessa, TX; one
daughter: Jennifer Gorman and husband Rob M.D. of Michigan; one
sister: Vicky Gosling of Carrollton, TX; four grandchildren:
Harper Gorman, Audrey Johnson, Kahdijah Johnson, Andrea Johnson and
one grandchild on the way.
He was
preceded in death by his parents: Jimmy and Mineola.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Tuesday, February
16, 2010 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit with Pastor Joe
Freeman officiating. Pallbearers include: Andre Johnson,
Michael Oats, Matthew Gosling, Anthony Glover, Cody Browning, Melvin

Delaney Lynette
Quiroz, one month and nine days old, went to be with Our Lord on
Sunday, February 14, 2010 in Lubbock, TX. She was born January
5, 2010 in Odessa, TX to Abel and Poly (Lares) Quiroz. She was a
precious child, who brought joy and smiles to everyone. We now
take comfort knowing that she is with Our Lord and watching over
us.
Those left behind to cherish her memory
include her parents: Abel and Poly Quiroz of Kermit; one
brother: Jeremiah Abel Quiroz of Kermit; one sister: Leylani
Quiroz of Kermit; four grandparents: Arcides and Becky Quiroz
and Vicente and Maria Luisa Lares all of Kermit; four
great-grandparents: Clarita N. Lopez, Raquel Quiroz, and
Anastacio and Obdulia Vasquez all of Kermit.
She was preceded
in death by one uncle: Arnold Quiroz; one great-uncle: Miguel
Lares; two great-grandfathers: Sabino Lopez and Carmen Quiroz
and one cousin: Jesse Montoya.

William Ray “Billy” Compton, age 60, passed from this
life on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Medical Center Hospital in
Odessa. He was born in
Natchez, MS on January 2, 1950 to George W. Compton and Rosine (Trichell)
Compton. He
married Pat Sivils in Mexico on March 14, 1973.
They have been longtime residents of Wink.
Billy was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
He loved to play with his grandkids.
He was also a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan.

at Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit, officiated by Pastor Jim
Weizenecker. Interment
will follow at Kermit Cemetery.

Hooks, Shawn Stout, Shane Compton, and Yancy Burch.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Hooks and Sonny Weaver.

Claxton Eugene
Hayes, age 63, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010 in Odessa, TX.
He was born December 9, 1946 in Greenville, Texas to L.H. and Evelyn
(Vaughn) Hayes. Mr. Claxton served on the Kermit School Board
where he served as President for several years. He was also a member
of the Winkler County Downtown Lions Club and Winkler County
Appraisal Board. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, and
supporting the school’s sports teams.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include
two sons: Eric Jones and Byron Redman both of Greenville, TX; two
daughters: Shacresha Jordan and husband Peter of Houston, TX and
Tonya Hayes of Kermit; two brothers: Vic Hayes and wife
Francine of Montgomery, AL and Ezzard Hayes and wife Barbara of
Greenville, TX; his ex-wife: Cecelia Hayes of Kermit; nine
grandchildren: Ann Marie Jones, Byron Redman II, Kiyona
Redman, Darius M. Scott, Da’Nashia D. Jordan, Ash’ Lynn A. Jordan,
Julien De’Marco Hayes, Ramon Urquidi Hayes and Jacob Ja’Marcus
Eugene Garcia Hayes.
He was preceded in
death by one sister: Barbara Ann Chisolm; his mother: Evelyn Ford;
and his father: L.H. Hayes.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday,
February 27, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Kermit officiated by
Rev. Steve Long and Rev. Bill Tatum. Pallbearers include:
Victor Berzoza, Santos Lujan, Mikey Moya, Jerry Moya, Robert Roberts
and Billy Ray Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers include: Vic Hayes,
Ezzard Hayes, Peter Jordan, Levine Cox, Jacob Garcia and the Nelson
