Sam Neal Capps |
|
Sam Neal Capps, age
91, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Midland Memorial
Hospital in Midland. Sam was born on Saturday, August 10, 1918 in
Carthage, TX to Jessie Thomas and Mattie (Poss) Capps. Sam married
Faye Branam on September 2, 1989 in Midland, TX.
He loved dancing,
traveling in his R.V., and pulling pranks. He also attended the Jal
Senior Center. Sam retired from El Paso Natural Gas in 1983 after
35 years of service. He also served his country with the 753rd Tank
Battalion under General George S. Patton.
Left behind to
cherish his memory is his wife: Faye (Branam) Capps of Jal, NM;
children: Jimmy Capps and wife Adela of Kermit, TX, Debra Moore and
Sharon Miller, both of Midland, TX; six grandchildren: Tony
Underwood, Steven Underwood, Michelle McCright and husband Greg,
Karen Miller, Patrick Moore, and Steven Moore; four great
grandchildren: Kathlyn Stickel and husband Caleb, Tawny Underwood,
Avery Underwood, and Anthony Underwood; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Sam was preceded in
death by his parents: Jessie Thomas and Mattie Capps; wife: Hazel
Dea Capps; son: Kenneth W. Moore; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be
1:00 pm, MST, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church
in Jal, NM, Officiated by Brother Alan Speed. Pallbearers will
include: Tony Underwood, Steven Underwood, Bobby Burkett, Rowdy
Fulfer, Morris Wallace, and Henry Martin. Interment will follow at
Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services
Funeral Parlor. |

Charles A. “Doc” Light |
|
Charles A. “Doc” Light, age 82, passed away on
Sunday, October 11, 2009 at Hospice House in Odessa. Doc was born
on Saturday, July 16, 1927 in Llano, TX to Miles Edgar and Laura
(Weed) Light. He married Iva Nell Arnold in 1972 in Juarez, Mexico
and they celebrated 21 wonderful years together. She preceded him in
death on April 18, 1993.
Doc was a member of the VFW. He loved hunting,
fishing, and being a daddy. He was also a member of the Community
Church. He worked in the oil field for 55 years and was well known
by his peers. Doc was a World War II Veteran and served in the
battle of Okinawa at the age of 16 in the South Pacific.
Left behind to cherish his memory are three sons:
Charles A. Light, Jr., and wife Fadia of Fredericksburg, VA, Wayne
Cooper and wife Debra of Livingston, TX, and Mike Cooper and wife
Melanie of Kermit, TX; one daughter: Karen Light Strickland of
Sulphur Springs, TX; 12 grandchildren; and friend: Beth Westfall.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents: Miles and
Laura Light; wife: Nell Cooper; and son: Michael N. Light.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October
13, 2009 at Kermit Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Henry Freund.
Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Alton Andrew Durham |

Alton Andrew Durham, age 69, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009
at Hospice House in Odessa. Alton was born on Sunday, March 10, 1940
in Roscoe, TX to Hayward Lee and Ruby Lee (Wilkins) Durham. He
married Billie Boner on October 3, 1959 in Kermit, TX. They
celebrated 50 wonderful years together.
Alton loved to go camping and RV’ing. He dearly loved his grandkids
and was known as “PawPaw” to them.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife: Billie Durham of
Kermit, TX; three sons: Randy Durham of Vealmoor, TX, Ricky Durham and
wife Linda of Trainer, PA, and Chad Durham of Kermit, TX; one
daughter: Sheila Castillo of Tulsa, OK; six brothers: Robert Lee
Durham and wife Wanda of Seagraves, TX, Royce Durham and wife Lana of
Brownfield, TX, Donald Durham and wife Charlene of Dublin, TX, Roland
Durham and wife Willadean and Myrtise Durham and wife Sondra, all of
Seminole, TX, and Wayland Durham and wife Marie of Andrews, TX; one
sister: Sybil Watson of Seminole, TX; four grandchildren: Chandra
Durham and Ashley Durham, both of Odessa, TX, Joshua Durham of
Trainer, PA, and Christopher Kane of Springfield, PA; seven
great-grandchildren: Ellyana Durham, Kaydince Carrillo, Olivia Durham,
Jade Greely, Christopher Kane, Emily Fraire, and Kevin Resendez.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents: Hayward and Ruby Durham;
one brother: Vondee Durham; and two sisters: Joyce Davis and Lawana
Jones.
Services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Belvue
Baptist Church in Kermit, TX, officiated by Brother Gordon Cox.
Pallbearers will include Gene Durham, Joshua Durham, Michael
Shropshire, Lane Boner, Lance Durham, and Patrick Durham. Interment
will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to
Family Services Funeral Parlor. |

Luigi Harper, age
55, of Kermit, passed away on Thursday, October
22, 2009,
at
Medical
Center
Hospital
in
Odessa,
TX.
Luigi was born in
Johannesburg,
South Africa
on December
14, 1953
to Luigi Fiore and Eureka Harper. He married Elize Haladay in
Klerksdorp,
South Africa
and she preceded him in death on
June 18, 2003.
Luigi was a member
of the
First
Baptist
Church
in Kermit. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time
with his family especially his sons.
Survivors include
his two sons: Wayne and Marland Harper of Kermit; two
daughters: Dorean Fischer of Monahans, TX and Dorthy Kittley
of Sweetwater, TX; his mother: Eureka Harper and step
father Wayne Harper of Las Cruces, NM; and one brother: Gary
Harper and wife Lee Ann of Lewisville, TX.
He was preceded in
death by his wife Elize Harper and his father: Luigi Fiore.
A memorial service
for Luigi will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Chapel.

Willliam "Bill" Diller |
|
Bill Diller also known as “Chee” to his golf
buddies, age 74, of Kermit, passed away on Saturday, October 24,
2009, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, TX. Bill was born
in Abilene, TX on February 26, 1935 to Frank and Jessie (Haworth)
Diller. He married Tommye Cathey, on October 14, 1988 in Odessa, TX
and they celebrated 21 years together.
Bill loved to play golf with his buddies.
He is even the proud owner of four hole-in-ones. After moving
to Kermit in 1968, Bill worked for himself. He first worked with
sheet metal and then later owning Diller Air and Kermit Air Co.
Bill also served his country in the Navy Reserve.
Survivors include his wife Tommye Diller of
Kermit; one sons: James David “JD” Diller of North Carolina;
two daughters: Angela Dawn Diller of Lubbock, TX and Jennifer
Jill Diller Braun of Houston, TX; six step children: Johnny
Hodges and James Hodges both of Odessa, TX, Kennie McClinton
of Odessa, TX, Cathey Bumstead of Michigan, Gerri Carlisle of
Midland, TX and Kara Gills of Nashville, AR; nine grandchildren;
four step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three
step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank
and Jessie Diller and one son: Donald Wayne Diller.
Memorial Services will be 6:30 pm, Tuesday,
October 27, 2009 at Family Services Funeral Chapel in Kermit.

Berna Briones, age 47, of Monahans passed away,
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in Monahans, TX; she was born Sunday,
November 5, 1961 in Willard, New Mexico to Gregorio D. and Virginia
M. (Garcia).
She married Ruben Briones I on July 26, 1980 in
Kermit, TX. They were happily married for 29 years.
Mrs. Briones was a member of St. John’s
Catholic Church in Monahans, TX. She loved cooking, decorating
cakes, baking, painting and quilting. She collected figurines,
movies and watches. She found delight in babysitting her nephews and
nieces.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her
husband Ruben Briones I of Monahans, TX; son: Ruben Briones II of
Monahans, TX; daughter: Natasha Briones and husband Isaac Almanza of
Monahans, TX; seven brothers: Joe Moya and wife Imelda of Monahans,
TX; Frankie Moya and wife Minnie of Kermit, TX; Greg Moya Jr. and
wife Nora of Eunice, NM; Gene Moya Sr. and wife Yolanda of Pampa,
TX; Pat Moya and wife Kim of Bay City, TX; Moe Moya and wife Norma
of Monahans, TX and Jesse R. Moya of Wink, TX; two sisters: Mary Ann
Lopez of Wink, TX and Ramona Moya of Wink, TX; brother-in-law: Tom
Sutton of Searcy, AR; one grandchild: Kayne David Almanza of
Monahans, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents:

on Monday, November 02, 2009 in Monahans, Texas. Mrs. Wright was
born on April 29, 1921 in Payson, Arizona to Albert and Lela
(Hedge) Baecht.
She is survived by one son: Lyle Wright; one
daughter: Ruth Elkins and husband Terry of Jal, NM; two
grandchildren: Adjalon Wright of Amarillo, TX and Candice Chennault
of Amarillo, TX.

Pauline Norman Cooley, age 83, of Kermit passed
away Wednesday, November 04, 2009 in Midland, TX. Pauline was born
on Monday, February 08, 1926 in Ballinger, TX to Eugene and Grace (Hynson)
Norman.
She enjoyed playing card games, Rook, 42 and
camping. She also delighted in spending time with her friends and
family. She was secretary for Belvue Baptist and was honored as the
oldest continually active student at the Plainview Church Secretary
School, where she went for 30 consecutive years.
Those left to cherish her memory are three
daughters: Virginia White and husband Charles of Midland, TX;
ReeDunna Young and husband Chris of Midland, TX; Kettisha Arbuckle
and husband Larry of Copper Canyon, TX; and Joyce Kaye Curtright of
San Angelo, TX; two brothers: Herbert Norman of Odessa, TX and
Morris Norman of Orlando, FL; one sister: Dot Burrell of Kerrville,
TX; five grandchildren: Krystopher Compton, Justin Compton, Valerie
Stanley, Lyle Forrest Arbuckle and Amanda Arbuckle; and six
great-grandchild: Alexis Stanley, Roy Stanley, Courtney Compton,
Justice Compton, Phoenix Compton and Victoria Compton and numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Forrest
Earl Cooley; one son: Monte Ray Cooley and her parents: Eugene and

Archie L. Cates, age 81, of Kermit, passed away
Monday, November 9, 2009 at Regency Hospital in Odessa. He was
born in Garland, AR on January 17, 1928 to Mack Calvin and Dollie L.
(Collum). He married the love of his life, Maurine Poindexter,
on December 22, 1947 in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Archie L. loved
hunting, fishing, and traveling in his RV.
He is survived by his wife: Maurine Cates of
Kermit; two brothers: George W. Cates and wife Ernestine of
Greenbrier, AR., and John Cates and wife Florence of Huachuca, AZ;
one sister: Betty Jo Murphy of Fresno, CA; numerous nieces and
nephews; and special friends: Janet and Mark Sledge and Janet
Ferguson ; and their adopted grandson Blake Sledge.
Memorial Services with viewing will be 6:30 -
8:30 pm, Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Family Services Funeral
Chapel. Services will be officiated by John Wilson and Glenda
Mixon.

Evelyn Leona Gross Bonham |
|
Evelyn Leona Gross Bonham, age 83, of Kermit
went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 10, 2009 at her
home after a long illness. She was born on January
3, 1926 in Holliday, Texas to Buman & Claudia Gross. She
grew up in Seagraves, graduated from Seagraves High School and
met the love of her life in Seagraves, Harold J Bonham.
They married on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1947. Harold
& Evelyn were happily married for 55 years before his death in
2002.
Evelyn was a resident of Kermit for 42
years where she was also a faithful member and secretary of
Eastside Church of Christ before her illness kept her at home.
Evelyn was preceded in death by both her
parents, her husband, her grandson: Shannon Health Bonham,
as well as 6 brothers: William Gross, Lester Gross, Leslie
Gross, Wesley Gross, Lonnie Gross, and J. B. Gross - all from
Andrews, Texas.
Evelyn is survived by one son: Dwayne
Bonham and wife Glenda; and one daughter: Phyllis Renz and
husband Jim, both from Fort Stockton, Texas; two grandchildren:
Frank Bonham of Fort Stockton and Philip Renz from Spur, Texas;
one great-grandson: Matthew Trey Bonham from Pierre, South
Dakota; two brother-in-laws: Jack Bonham and wife Lucille from
Washington, Iowa and Bill Bonham and wife Laverne of Houston,
Texas; one sister-in-law: Cherry Gross from Andrews; and
numerous nieces and nephews. She also had 3 wonderful
caregivers that are part of the family: Becky Quiroz, Minnie
Griffis, and Donna Chacon.
Services for Evelyn will be at Eastside
Church of Christ on Thursday, November 12 at 2 p.m. with Brian
McGonagill of Carlsbad, New Mexico officiating. Interment
will follow in Andrews at the Andrews Cemetery at 4:00 p.m.
under the direction of the Family Services Funeral Parlor in
Kermit.

Ty worked as a
manager for West Texas Gas.
He was a Lions Club member.
Ty enjoyed travel and loved to hunt and fish.
He was a member of

Methodist
Church.

Maria “Nina” Dominguez, age 80, of Kermit
passed away, Sunday, November 29, 2009 in Monahans, TX. She was born
Monday, April 15, 1929 in Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico to
Catarino and Petra (Granados) Garcia. She married Merced O.
Dominguez on December 16, 1967 in Kermit, TX.
Mrs. Dominguez was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Kermit. She loved cooking, raising a bunch of
kids, arts and crafts and dancing. She was a strong Christian woman
who always put God first.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are two
daughters: Fatima Dominguez of Austin, TX and Monsi Dominguez of
Kermit and one grandchild: Ian Dominguez.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Merced
Dominguez and her parents: Catarino and Petra Gracia.
Rosary will be 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 01,
2009 at Family Services Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial
will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 02, 2009 at St. Joseph
Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Father Richard Waiwood.

Carrasco, Eduardo Carrasco Jr., Eddie Martinez and Orlando Martinez.
