Alfredo Chavez |

Alfredo Chavez, age
64, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in Kermit, Texas. Mr.
Chavez was born in San Antonio, Del Bravo, Mexico to Elias and Maria
(Tarango) Chavez.
He was known for
being a very hard worker. He enjoyed playing the guitar and loved
spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to
cherish his memory are his wife: Maria Chavez of Kermit, Texas;
three sons: Jose Chavez of Kermit, Texas, Alfonso Chavez and Rene
Chavez of Mexico; one daughter: Maria Saenz of Kermit, Texas; one
brother: Israel Chavez of Kermit, Texas; one sister: Elia Anaya of
Kermit, Texas and six grandchildren: Valerie, Gabriel, Marily, Rene
Jr., Gabriella and Jaqueline.
He is preceded in
death by: his parents Elias an Maria (Tarango) Chavez and his son:
Miguel Chavez.
Prayer Service will
be 7:00 pm, Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Family Services
Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, November
20, 2008 at Family Services Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at
Kermit Cemetery. |

Belva Jean “B.J.” Burrows |
|
Belva Jean “B.J.”
Burrows, age 76, of Kermit passed away Wednesday, December 03, 2008
in Kermit. She was born on Thursday, February 11, 1932 in
Breckenridge, Texas to Cecil and Mary (Hobson) Chauncy. “B.J.”
married the love of her life, Larry Burrows on October 3, 1950. She
was a member of the Kermit graduating class of 1950. B.J.
dedicated her life to her family and husband until the kids were
grown, then she went to work. She worked for J&J, The Curiosity
Shop and was an office manager for Busters Well Service. She was a
member of the Belvue Baptist Church. She enjoyed being around
friends and family. She also delighted in listening to music,
dancing, gardening and laughing. B.J. had never met a stranger and
was friends with anyone who knew her.
Those left to
cherish her memory are two sons: Richard Lee Burrows and wife
Sherlene of Mentone, TX and Val Jo Burrows and wife Janice of Wink,
TX; one daughter: Becky L. Burrows of Kermit, TX; one sister: Mary
Linda Roemisch and husband Jimmy of Hermleigh TX; five
grandchildren: Angie, Stephanie, Larry, Dustin and Levi and seven
great-grandchildren: Shaun, Zoe, James, McKaley, Randi, Teylor and
Clifton.
She was preceded in
death by her husband: Larry Burrows; her parents: Cecil and Mary
(Hobson) Chancy; one brother: Glen Chauncy and one sister: Charlotte
Shuffield.
Graveside Services
were 2:00 pm Friday, December 05, 2008 at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit,
TX. officiated by Brother Wayne Shuffield. Services were
entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor. |

Julia Carrasco |
|
Julia Carrasco was
born in Alpine, Texas on April 6, 1927, but resided in Fort Stockton,
Texas. The last two months of her life were spent in Kermit, Texas
with her caregiver, her niece Viola Winn “Negra”. Julia went to be
with her savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, December 8, 2008. She
was the last child of the late Nestor and Petra Carrasco of Fort
Stockton, Texas.
Julia was a very
godly, caring woman and a servant to all. She enjoyed going to church
and attending all church functions. She was a dedicated member of St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church of Fort Stockton and in her spare time she
enjoyed parties, traveling and the casinos.
Preceding her in
death were her siblings: Paulita Carrasco, Petra Brisenio, Mary Urias,
Mercedes Blanco, Camila Moreno, Henry Jose and Brijido Carrasco. She
is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Rosary will be said
Tuesday 7:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas. Mass
of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at
the St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Celebrant will be Father Felix Okeke. Interment will follow at
St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Memorial
Funeral Home in Ft. Stockton and Family Services Funeral Home in
Kermit. |

Cynthia McLean |
|
Cynthia McLean, of
Kermit, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Hospice House of
Odessa. She was born January 23, 1956 to Willie and Garnette (Beckleheimer)
Whiddon in Key West, Florida. She was a homemaker. She was a
member of the Baptist Church.
Those left to
cherish her memory include her son: Corky Guy McLean of
Waxahachie, Texas; two daughters: Corinne Lee McLean of San
Angelo, Texas and Chastity Lynn McLean of Kermit; one brother:
Phillip Dwight Whiddon
of Gainesville, Florida; her sister: Sherrie Ann Carter of Kermit;
five grandchildren: Robinne, Madison, Dallas, Austin, and Cielbi,
all of Kermit; her best friend: Judy Smith of Kermit; friend:
Jerry Yietier of Kermit; and the Vegil family of Kermit.
Memorial services
will be 10:00 am Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Family Services
Funeral Chapel, officiated by Brother Dudley Mullins. Arrangements
are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel of Odessa and Family
Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit. |

James
Henry “Jim” Garrett |
|
James
Henry “Jim” Garrett was called away suddenly to his heavenly
home on Saturday, December 20, 2008 while riding his motorcycle in
Odessa, TX. Jim was born in Mosquero, NM February 22, 1937 to
George and Mary Elizabeth (Lewis) Garrett. He served our
country in the US Air Force. From 1975 to 2005, he owned and
operated Garrett’s Plumbing in Kermit. He was a devout
Christian man, a member of Belvue Baptist Church.
Jim
never held a grudge, nor ever had a bad word to say about anyone.
He lived his faith and shared it through his actions to others.
He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) and
was on the CMA Servant’s Team. He was always ready to help
someone out who needed it, and many times fixed someone’s plumbing
problem and refused payment. “Just bake me a pie,” he
would say. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His
favorite job was babysitter to Stacia, Zach, Maci, or Aiden.
Those
left to cherish his love and memory include his mother: Mary
Garrett of Springer, NM; his son: Carl Garrett and wife Salina
of Wink; one brother: Lewis Garrett of Houston, TX; three
sisters: Glenda Cox of Pennsylvania, Ila Kay Blackston of
Colorado, and Nancy Jesperson of Springer, NM; and his four beloved
grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his father, George Garrett, and his wife,
Betty.
Funeral
services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Belvue Baptist
Church officiated by Brother Jim Weizenecker. Pallbearers will
be Byron Cody, Roger Carter, Manuel Rivas, Ernie Jesperson, Jamie
Dutton, Gerald Wiggins, Roy Long and Ismael Cobos. The
CMA will be honorary pallbearers. Interment with military
honors at Kermit Cemetery will follow funeral services.
Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.
The
family requests that memorials in Jim’s name be made to St. Jude
Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, 501 St. Jude Place,
Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Zenaida Huerta |

Zenaida
Ortiz Huerta, age 73, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 21,
2008 at Winkler County Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Mexico on March 20, 1935.
She was a homemaker; a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Those
left to cherish her love and memory include her husband:
Victor Huerta of Kermit; two brothers:
Ezequiel Chavez of Las Vegas, NV and Rogelio Chavez of Juarez,
Mexico; one sister: Verna
Chavez of Juarez, Mexico; four grandchildren:
Cindy Reyes of Kermit, Belinda Reyes of Bradinton, FL, Daniel
Reyes of Kermit, and Victoria Muniz of Kermit; and twelve
great-grandchildren: Emily,
Nathan, Brandon, Elizabeth, Daniel, Nathaniel, Anahi, Ivan,
Savannah, Brian, Omar, and Joel.
She
was preceded to Heaven by her parents and her daughter:
Yvonne Reyes, who passed on in 1996.
Rosary
will be said 7:00 pm Monday, December 22, 2008 at Family Services
Funeral Parlor. Funeral
services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Family
Services Funeral Parlor officiated by Father Rudy Lacerna.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Reyes, Daniel Muniz, Jose
Gallegos, Cornelio Garcia, Luis Salinas, and Ricky Garcia.
Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Donna "Sue" Mitchell |

Sue Mitchell, age 64, of Kermit passed
away at her residence, Sunday, December 21, 2008. Sue was born
Wednesday, December 13, 1944 in Jonesboro, LA to Jamie Thomas and
Louise (White) Rhymes. Sue enjoyed cooking, gardening, and
shopping especially on “QVC “. She also delighted collecting
dolls and antiquing. She was a Christian and a member of the
Northside Baptist Church. Sue retired from Winkler County Memorial
Hospital, where she worked as a nurse for over 20 years.
Those left to
cherish her memory are her husband: “Don” Mitchell of Kermit,
TX; one son: Darin Mitchell and wife Candice of Kermit, TX; two
daughters: D’Aunn Sharpe and husband Terry of McAlester, OK and
Debby Mason and fiancé Monty Egger of Kermit, TX; her mother:
Louise Rhymes of Highland Village, TX; one brother: Jim Rhymes of
Kermit, TX; one sister: Ann Rhymes of Highland Village, TX; five
grandchildren: Brendon Mitchell, Cyndy Adams, Michael Mason, Jamie
Sharpe and Angel Sharpe and one great-grandchild: Kycen Adams.
She is preceded in
death by her father: Jamie Thomas Rhymes.
Services will be
2:00 pm Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Northside Baptist Church with
Brother Steve Long officiating. Pallbearers will be: Gene Mitchell,
Leon Mitchell, Derrick Mitchell, Michael Mason, Brendon Mitchell and
Terry Sharpe. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to
Family Services Funeral Parlor.
Memorials may be
made at any Angel Tree Location or to the American Cancer Society
