Mary
Lila Norman, age 82, of Kermit, passed away Friday, January 4, 2008
at her residence. She
was born Friday, September 18, 1925 in Waterflow, NM. She was a
member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her children and
grandchildren were the highlight of her life. In her spare time she
enjoyed working with her hands.
She was very gifted at embroidery and crocheting.
She also delighted in reading.
She held a special place in her heart for her son-in-law.
Those
left behind to mourn her loss include one son: James “Jim”
Norman of Kermit; three daughters: Karen Carrell of Odessa, Mary
Underwood and husband Frank of Kermit, and Charlotte Norman of
Kermit; one brother: Bill Wethington and wife Betty of Bedford, TX;
one sister: Linda Speaker and husband Randy of Sterling, CO; five
grandchildren: Patricia Carrell, Heather Carrell, Christy House and
husband Mike, Jennifer Quine, and Kenna Norman; and six
great-grandchildren: Madison Williams, Hunter Holley, Gage House,
Allison House, Haylie Quine and Colin Quine.
She
was preceded in death by her husband: James Richard Norman, who
passed away in 1987; her parents: Wilbur and Helen Wethington; three
sisters: Rosalie Steiber, Teresa Schneider and Marie Hurst; and two
brothers: Louis Wethington, and Sonny Wethington.
Rosary
was said 7:00 pm Monday, January 7, 2008 at Family Services Funeral
Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January
8, 2008 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, officiated by Father Rudy
Lacerna. Pallbearers
included: Joe Carrell, James Everett, Vernon Underwood, Glen
Underwood, Jeff Reed and Scott Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers included: Jim Norman, Frank Underwood,
Mike Norman, Fred Steiber, George Schneider, Mike House and Bill
Wethington. Interment
followed at Kermit Cemetery. Services
were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Lova
Genee Morton, age 88, of Wink, passed away Monday, January 14, 2008
at her residence. She
was born January 7, 1920 in Eastland, TX.
Genee
married the love of her life, A.C. on December 5th 1936
in Eastland. They settled in Wink and became members of The 1st
Baptist Church. She
enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were the
highlight of her life and she enjoyed watching them play sports. In
her spare time she loved working in her yard and cooking.
Those
left behind to mourn her loss include three sons: Allen O. Morton
and wife Carol, of Stockton, MO; Toby Morton and wife Dianne, of
Snyder TX, and Raleigh Morton of Wink ; one daughter: Helen Voyles
and husband Billy, of Wink ; one brother; Billy Newell of Houston,
TX; twelve grandchildren: Allen Calvin, Jimmy Wayne Morton, Scotty
O. Morton, Teresa Lynn Morton, Sherry Morton, Bart Morton, Heath
Morton, Lacy Morton, Lara Morton, Billy Voyles Jr., Vickie Crawford,
and Jackie Voles; fifteen great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren.
After
67 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her husband A.C.
Morton, who passed away on March 27, 2004. She was also preceded in
death by her parents, Robert Ernest and Lillian Beatrice
(Williamson) Newell; one sister, Violet Mae Wells; one brother,
Bobby Newell and one grandchild, Brett Morton.
Funeral
Services will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 1st
Baptist Church in Wink, TX., officiated by Brother Richard Ray. Her
grandsons will pallbearers. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.
Services were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Mildred
Opal Baker, age 83, of Kermit, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008
at Permian Region Medical Center in Andrews.
She was born Saturday, May 3, 1924 in Horatio, AR. to Allison
“Arkie” Benton and Tula Mae (Horne) Bayless.
She was a member of The Pink Ladies and a member of the order
of The Eastern Star. She
was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother and delighted with
spending time with her family.
Those
left behind to mourn her loss include one daughter: Kay Mathews and
husband Jim of Monahans TX; one sister: Lois Yoakum and husband Joe of
Ft Worth, TX; four grandchildren: Sherry and husband Koan of Azle, TX;
Doug Mathews and wife Kristi of Eunice, NM; Roy Taylor of Odessa, TX;
Joe Taylor and wife Lori of Odessa, TX; nine great-grandchildren:
Amanda Cuellar and husband Manuel of Odessa, TX; Lindsay Murphree of
Azle, TX; Brandon Mathews and wife Ashley of Eunice, NM; Brandi Equia
and husband Omar; Shane Taylor; Shanna Taylor; Dylan Taylor; Bethany
Mathews; and Dusty Mathews all of Odessa, TX; three great-great
grandchildren: Reeslyn Jo Bice, of Azle, TX; Caleb Mathews and Kalyssa
Mathews of Odessa, TX; and her special friend: Rusty Stewart of
Kermit, TX.
She
was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Baker; her parents:
Allison “Arkie” and Tula (Horne) Bayless; two sons: Lanny and
Butch Baker; and one grandchild, Stanley Baker Jr.
Graveside
Services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, January 18, 2008 at Kermit
Cemetery, officiated by Brother Daniel Kowacich.
Services were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Bobby Joe Elliot

Bobby Joe Elliott, age 76, of Kermit, passed away Friday,
January 18, 2008 at The VA Hospital in Big Spring, Texas.
He was born Friday December 4, 1931 in Milam, Texas, to
Tilman and Lorene (Oxford) Elliott. He was a Navy Veteran of The Korean War and a member of The
VFW Post #6284 and The American Legion Post #339. Mr. Elliott was a
professional Oilman and in his spare time enjoyed hunting and
fishing.
Those left behind to mourn his loss include two sons: Bobby
Wayne Elliott of Odessa, TX, and Earl Dean Elliott and wife Deborah
of Pampa, TX; two daughters: Lisa Elliott of Kermit, TX, and Valorie
Lane of Houston, TX; one brother: Orville Elliott and wife Bonnie of
Middleburg, FL; one sister: Carolyn Sue Wilson Owen and husband
Kerry of Burleson, TX; and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father: Tilman Elliott;
step-father: William T. Wilson; and mother: Lorene (Oxford) Elliott;
grandparents: Earl Oxford and Nettie; one daughter: JoBeth Elliott;
one brother: Jimmy Carol.
Graveside Services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 22,
2008 at Kermit Cemetery, Officiated by Brother Dudley Mullins.

Ronald Glenn Cvik |

Ronald Glenn Cvik,
age 69, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008. He was born Saturday,
March 19, 1938 in Binghamton, NY to John and Nina (Hollenbeck) Cvik.
Ron was a veteran of
the United States Air Force where he served as a jet mechanic. He
graduated from Sul Ross State University
Police Academy and received his teacher certification from Southwest
State University. He served as a Constable and Deputy Sheriff for
Upton County. He taught auto mechanics for Ft. Stockton ISD, McCamey
ISD, Ector County ISD, Rankin ISD, and Kermit ISD. He is a member of
Texas Retired Teacher’s Association. He had dual lifetime membership
in the Oil City Masonic Lodge #1256 AF & AM and the Kermit Lodge
#1258 AF & AM and had served both lodges as Master. He was a 32nd
degree Suez Shriner out of San Angelo and a member of the Scottish
Rite out of El Paso. He was a NRA member, a gun enthusiast, and an
avid reloader. He was also involved in VICA (Vocational Industrial
Clubs of America) and IHMSA (International Handgun Metallic
Silhouette Association). He loved to ride his Harley and spend time
on the open road. He loved spending time with his children and
grandchildren. He was a member of the Wilshire Park Baptist Church
of Midland.
Those left to
cherish his love and memory include his wife of 31 years: Nancy
Cvik of Midland; two sons: John and Sally Cvik of Horizon City, TX
and Ryan and Karen Cvik of Springfield, VA and; five
daughters: Deborah and Pat Satterfield of Central City, CO; Pixie
and Paul Avila, Nina and Rene Fonseca, Patty and Jorge Chavez, all
of El Paso, TX; and Rebecca and Mark Woolsey of Midland, TX; two
brothers: Martin Simielo and Diana, and Eugene Cvik, both of Owego,
NY; seventeen grandchildren: Monique Tonya Marquez, Candace Jade
Chavez, Amanda Lee Chavez, Patrick Lee Satterfield, Daniel Wade
Satterfield, Christopher Lynn Satterfield, Samantha Marie Cvik,
Christopher Paul Avila, Joshua John Cvik, Richard Varela, Ashley
Renee Alvarez, Erica Michelle Fonseca, Adrian Rene Fonseca, Clinton
Ross Woolsey, Jeannine Marie Woolsey, Luke Carson Woolsey, and Ryan
Grant Cvik; and five great-grandchildren: Jacqueline Monique Valdez,
Noemi Ann Satterfield, Dakota Lee Satterfield, Xoie Rae Satterfield,
and Dorsey Patrick Satterfield II.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, his adopted mother, Marie Stone, his son,
Ronald Glenn Cvik, Jr, his brother, Terry Cvik, and his sister,
Grace Cvik.
Funeral services are
7:00 pm, Friday, January 25, 2008 at Acres West Funeral Chapel with
Pastor Gregg Hagelstein officiating. Services are entrusted to Acres
West Funeral Chapel.

Audie B. Anderson, was born on September 6, 1906 in Water Valley, Texas.
She passed away on February 3, 2008 at the age of 101. Mrs.
Anderson graduated from Grandfalls High School in 1922. She was a
seventy five years plus resident of Winkler County, being a resident
of both Wink and Kermit. She was a charter member of The First
United Methodist Church of Wink, where she was active in WSCS for
many years. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
She married Bryan Gibson, Sr. in 1925 he preceded her in death in 1933.
She married L.M. (Cooter) Anderson in 1934 he preceded her in death
in 1976. She was also preceded in death by her parents, O.L. and
Sallie Woullard, four sisters; Iris Lea, Ada, Irene and Elsie; one
brother, Horace; one son, Arthur Gibson, Jr.; one grandson, Bryan
Gibson.
She is survived by her daughters; Frances Baskin of Kermit, TX, Ruth
James and husband Don of Kingsland, TX, Winn Stovall and husband
Richard of Midland TX, and Mona Deutsch of Houston, TX; one brother;
Connie Woullard of Odessa, TX; one sister; Donnie Morris, of Odessa,
TX; 13 grandchildren, Lou Burns, Peggy Parson, Pat James, Donna
Perez, Michele Logan, Wendi Tully, Burt Stovall, Daren Deutsch,
Dustin Deutsch, Dixon Deutsch, Denton Deutsch, Vicky Burrell, and
Connie Gibson; 12 great-grandchildren and 7
great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at
Kermit Cemetery officiated by Brother Pete Campbell of Midland, TX.

Nicomedez Lopez, age 77, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008 in
Kermit, Texas. She was born on Friday, October 10, 1930 in Presidio,
TX. to Jesus and Romana (Madrid) Valenzuela. Mrs. Lopez enjoyed
spending time watching The Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. During
her free time she delighted in playing bingo, gardening and pottery.
She was also a member of Crusillistas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband: Manuel Lopez Sr. of
Kermit TX.; two sons: Manuel Lopez Jr. and wife Angelica of Kermit,
TX., and Ray Lopez and wife Norma of Odessa, TX.; three daughters:
Delia Mendez and husband David of Coahoma, TX., Josephine Heredia
and husband Manuel of Monahans, TX., and Rebecca Vasquez and husband
Rodrigo of Kermit, TX.; one brother: Francisco Valenzuela and wife
Mary of Kermit, TX.; one sister: Dolores Rios of Odessa, TX.; 17
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Jesus and Romana (Madrid)
Valenzuela; one brother: Ramon; three sisters: Rosa, Manuela, and
Rita.
Rosary will be said at Family Services Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm, Sunday,
February 10, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am,
Monday, February 11, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment
will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX. Celebrant will be:

Wilford "Ship" Shipley |
|
Winford “Ship” Shipley Sr., age 83, of Kermit, passed away Saturday,
February 9, 2008 at the Monahans Managed Care Center in Monahans,
TX. He was born Thursday, February 14, 1924 in Baylor County, TX to
Guy Winford and Amelia Pearl (Franklin) Shipley. He was a Navy
Veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He was also
a member of The VFW and The American Legion. “Ship” was a
professional Oilman; working as a pumper for Sinclair, Atlantic
Richfield and retiring after 35 years from Arco. In his spare time
enjoyed camping and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He also found
great joy playing with his puppy dogs.
Those left behind to mourn his loss include his wife: Kathryn Shipley of
Kermit; four sons: Winford Frederick “Fred” Shipley Jr. and wife
Joyce of Carlsbad, NM, Robert Leon “Bob” Shipley and wife Dana of
Kermit, TX, David Stephenson and wife Margie of Arlington, TX., and
Coda Stephenson and wife Denise of Lake Worth, TX; five daughters:
Sue Bradford of Kermit, TX, Jerrie Rosch and husband Wild Bill of
Kermit, TX, Gina Piner and husband Jud of Arlington, TX, Joli Nuss
and husband Mark of Alvarado, TX, and Lucy Eaton and husband Scott
of Kermit, TX; one sister: Lorene Counts of Abilene, TX; twenty-one
grandchildren: Destani, Chay, Freddy, Cole, Kelly, Austin, India,
Shay, Miranda, Erica, Kelsi, Kaycie, C.J., Justin, Jamie, Logan,
Tyler, Joshua, Scott, Kimberly, and Kristi; seven
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Guy and Amelia Shipley; two
daughters: Terrie Kay Shipley and Kathy Meeks; two sons: Bryan and
James; two brothers: Charles Shipley, and Clem Shipley; and four
sisters: Leta, Kitty Mae, Thelma, and Kay.
Services will be held 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Belvue
Baptist Church in Kermit with Brother Bill Campbell officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Services were

John “Burnout” Blanton |

John “Burnout” Blanton, age 54, of Kermit, TX. passed away Monday,
February 11, 2008 in Lubbock, TX. He was born on Wednesday,
February 25, 1953 in Hamlin, TX. to Jody and Oleta (Fannin)
Blanton. He was preceded in death by his father Jody “Doss”
Blanton.
“Burnout” greatly enjoyed motorcycle-racing. He was known as a “Top Fuel
Harley Drag Racer”. He had a great love for motorcycles. He would
spend hours working on bikes as a mechanic, welder, and fabricator.
“Burnout” felt this was a passion that only a true “Biker” could
feel.
Those left to cherish his memory are one daughter: Bonnie Lee Blanton of
Odessa, TX; his mother: Oleta (Fannin) Faught of Kermit, TX; one
grandmother: Tincy Blanton of Hamlin, TX; one brother: James Blanton
and wife Kathy of Kansas and a host of friends that share his love
of riding.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, February 18, 2008 at First
Baptist Church in Kermit, TX. officiated by Brother Dudley Mullins.
Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit TX. Pallbearers
will include: Carrol Ray Moore, Shane Warnick, David Russell, Jason
Russell, Phillip McCullouch, and David Smith. Honorary Pallbearers
include Randy Stephenson, Robert Rowe “Tiny”, Jack Arvin, and Jon

"J.C." Denny, age 84, of Kermit passed away Sunday, March
2, 2008 at his residents in Kermit TX.
He was born Wednesday, December 5, 1923 in Electra, TX to
Jesse and Mary (Brown) Denny. He
was a drilling consultant for the oil and gas industry. In
his spare time, Mr. Denny enjoyed watching westerns on TV.
Those left behind
to mourn his loss include his wife: Margaret Mae Denny; two sons: James
Michael “Mike” Denny of Kermit, Patrick “Pat” Daniel Denny
and wife, Holly of Kermit; one daughter:
Marsha Lynne Hill and husband, James of Kermit; six
grandchildren: Jeana Espinozo, Clay Denny, Zach Hill, Callie Hill,
Zach Denny, and Andi Heather; two great-grandchildren: Keaton Hill,
and Kristina Espinozo.
He was preceded in
death by his parents: Jesse and Mary Denny and three brothers:
Eugene, Erwin, and Bobby Denny.
Services will be
2:00 pm Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Family Services Funeral Chapel
with Rev. Scott Seymore officiating. Interment
will follow at Kermit Cemetery.
Pallbearers include: Rodney
Hayes, Kendall James, Bill James, Ricky Kidd, Jimmy Don Arnold and
Troy Ratliff. Honorary pallbearers include: Zach Hill, Zach Denny, and Clay Denny.
Services are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.
