Herman Gene Wright |
|
Herman Gene Wright age 66 of Kermit passed from this life on
Sunday, June 24, 2007 at his residence.
He was born November 2, 1940 in Levelland, TX to Herman Bell
Wright and Ruth Imogene Carter Wright.
Gene married the love of his life for 41 years, Joira D.
Lewis, on October 3, 1959 in Juarez, Mexico. She preceded him in
death December 5, 2000.
He had worked as a corrections officer and welder.
Gene enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and shooting air
rifles. He was a member
of the Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish his love and memories include two
daughters: Misty
Williams and husband Mike of Kermit and Kristi Doty and husband
Darrel of Snyder, TX; one brother:
Terry Wright of Levelland, TX; one sister:
Nancy Wolff and fiancé Rocky Bernstein of Lubbock, TX;
mother-in-law: Hazel
Awbrey of Hereford, TX; four sisters-in-law:
Charlotte Rhoades of Chaparral, NM, Barbara Holloway of
Clovis, NM, Kay Rhodes and husband Don of Hereford, TX, and Jeanette
Wristen and husband Clay of Grandfalls, TX; six grandchildren:
Aaron, Austin, Justin, Lindsey, Bryce, and Dance; numerous
nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents:
Herman and Ruth Wright; his loving wife: Joira Wright; and
one daughter: Twila Jo
Wright.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday,
June 26, 2007 at Northside Baptist Church in Kermit with Pastor
Steve Long officiating. Pallbearers
will include Rob Wolff, Rocky Bernstein, Justin Cox, Austin
Williams, Aaron Williams and Jimmy Tarango. Honorary
pallbearers are Clay Wristen, Don Rhodes, R.L. Southerland, Robert
Fischer, Mike Williams, Darrel Doty, and Kyle Cox.
Interment will follow at Levelland Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
Services are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of
Kermit.

Price
|
|
Gordon Eldon Price age 78 passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007
at Winkler County Memorial Hospital in Kermit.
He was born Tuesday, April 9, 1929 in Abilene, TX to Hershel
Swift Price and Jessie Adelia (Cook) Price.
He served his country in the US Army during the Korean
Conflict as a minuteman missile programmer.
Eldon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wink, where
he had served as a deacon for many years. He was involved in developing the skills and minds of
children. He was active
with Boy Scouts of America and a Little League coach.
He was also a retired teacher, a past President of the TSTA
and TCTA. As a pillar
of the community he served on the City Council and was a member of
the Roy Orbison festival committee.
Eldon was an avid wildcat.
In his spare time, he liked to hit a few balls on the golf
course.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years:

Michael Price and wife Jackie of Amarillo, TX and Bobby Price
and wife Teri of Nashville, TN; two step-sons:
Roddy McIver and wife Lynne of Salado, TX and Terry McIver
and wife Phyllis of Kosse, TX; one daughter:
Paula Beth Ordway and husband Mike of Sweetwater, TX; a
brother: C.A. Price and
wife Eloise of Sweetwater, TX; three sisters:
Anita Watson and Cora Mae Isenberg both of Merkel, TX, and
Daisy Stephens of San Angelo, TX; sixteen grandchildren:
Matthew, Luke, Nathan, Hannah, Abby, Garrison, Annie, Brooks,
Mary Caroline, Jenny, Jade, Trevor, Lindsey, Sean, Ryan, and Leslie;
and three great-grandchildren: Abby, Anthony, and Christopher.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents:
Hershel and Jessie Price; his first wife: Mary Jo (Jones)
Price; and one sister: Wenona
Herron.
Funeral services were held 2:00 pm Thursday, June 28, 2007 at
First Baptist Church of Wink with Pastor Richard Ray officiating.
Pallbearers were Billy Voyles, Bill Beckham, Mike Jones,
Raymond Dodd, Jesse Abila, Mike Ordway, Dale Carman, and D.J. Bryan.
Honorary pallbearers included C. J. Bisang, Lonnie Rasco,
Larry McCallister, Shane Youngblood, Danny Thomas, James Whitmire,
Ed Landry, Wilbur Floyd and Gene Paschall.
Services were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of
Kermit.

David Lee Pennington
|
|
David Lee Pennington (PaPa), age 76, of Kermit passed
away on July 13, 2007 at his residence.
David was born March 15,1931 to John Hughie and Dena Mae (Churchwell)
Pennington in Bowlegs, Oklahoma.
He married Bernice Fields on February 22,1950 in Fort Sumner,
New Mexico. They enjoyed over 57 happy years together.
David was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. He
enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting, and yard work, but his passion
was for his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife: Bernice Pennington of
Kermit; one son: Shelby Pennington and wife Dolores of Hobbs, NM; one
daughter: Alice Fosdick and husband Steve of Kermit; two brothers:
Randy Pennington of Albuquerque, NM and Roy Williams of Oceanside, CA;
five sisters: Ruthie Southern of Farmington, NM, Glenda Williams of
Buena Park, CA, Linda Thompson and Ella Scotty, both of St. George,
UT, and Jeanie Shafer of Parker, CO; four grandchildren:
Renee Brooks, Amy Heiser, Billy and Jamie Dunlap, and Shelby
Glynn Pennington, all of Kermit, Ricky and Sutherland Fosdick, Josh
and Brenna Fosdick, and David Fosdick, all of South Carolina, and
Marcy Burns of Montana; ten great-grandchildren:
Jerek Garcia, Nathan Pennington, Skyler Brooks, Braden Dunlap,
Tiffiny Brooks, Robby Brooks, Alyssa Pennington, Jordan Fosdick,
Cadence Fosdick, and Gaines Fosdick.
Preceding David in death were his parents:
John Hughie and Dena Mae Pennington, three brothers: Don,
Johnny, and Kenneth; and two sisters: Geneva and Juanita.
Services will be held at Family Services Funeral Chapel 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 17,
2007 with Mike Tomlinson officiating.
Pallbearers will include: Billy Dunlap, Shelby G. Pennington, Joe
Faulkner, Millard Dodson, Alcario Padron, and Roy Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are Rex Robertson, Dub King, and
Stanley Mulsow. Interment
will follow at Kermit Cemetery.

|
Leila Jean (Lee) Creager, age 73, went to be with her Lord
Saturday, July 21, 2007 from her residence in Kermit, TX.
She was born Monday, January 1, 1934 in Stamford, Jones
County, TX to the late George Austin and Laura Beatrice (Stroud)
Rushing.
Lee married Don Creager on December 30, 1962.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and “Gran Ma Lee”.
She loved to cook and do ceramics.
Lee was a member of the American Legion and VFW Ladies
Auxiliaries.
Those left behind to mourn the loss of Mrs. Creager include
her husband: Don

Kathryn Jean Putnam and husband Richard of Kermit, Regena Ann
Derrick and husband Charles of Mentone, and Brittany Djurdjevic and

JoAnn Stevenson and husband George of Forgan, OK and Melba
Ritter and husband Ben of Wink, TX; nine grandchildren; and thirteen
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents:

Virgina McKay and Pauline Byrom.
Funeral services were held 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at
Belvue Baptist Church in Kermit officiated by Brother Bill Campbell.
Pallbearers included Gary Hawkins, Allen Haley, Dan
Djurdjevic, Fred Keen, Jack Keen, and Royce Cassell. Interment
followed at Kermit Cemetery. Services
were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

|
Candida
"Candy" Munoz, age 72, went to be with her Lord Sunday,
July 22, 2007. She was
born October 3, 1034 in Fort Stockton to Eugenio and Angelita (Porras)
Vara.
She was a
strong-willed Christian woman, a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church. She was a
homemaker who loved her family; children and grandchildren will all
her heart. Candy also
was very close to her nieces and loved to spend time with them and
all the children. She
always knew what everyone liked and would prepare special dishes. She enjoyed knitting and gardening, especially caring for her
roses.
Those
left to cherish her love and memories include her husband - Javier
Munoz of Kermit; two sons - Eddie Martinez and wife Elma of Odessa
and Abel Martinez and wife Margie of Corpus Christi,TX; two
daughters - JoAna Jamison and husband Robert of Kermit and Elizabeth
Poland and husband Stanley of Sylacuaga, AL; four step-sons - Jose
Munoz and wife Alejandra of Comanche,TX, Francisco Munoz and wife
Anna of Little Rock, AR, and Cesar Munoz and wife Esmeranda and
Gustavo Munoz and wife Veronica, all of Dublin, TX; three
step-daughters - Rosa Guzman and husband Jose of Deming, NM, Luzelma Garcia
and husband Ernesto of Cactus, TX, and Flor Posada and husband
Isidro of Kermit; ten grandchildren:
Chris, Amy Lynn, Jacob, Wesley, Chris, Marvin, Monica,
Orlando, Lacey and Jeremy; eighteen step-grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren: Sierra, Mayan, Kaylie, Cody, Jayce, Jimmy, Madilyn, Lexi, and
Josh.
Candy
was preceded in death by her first husband – Abel Martinez, Sr;
two brothers – Jose and Manuel Vara; four sisters – Conrada,
Nasaria, Christina, and Maria; and her parents – Eugenio and
Angelita Vara.
Rosary
was said 7 pm Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Family Services Funeral
Chapel. Mass of
Christian Burial will be 2 pm Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at St. Joseph
Catholic Church of Kermit. Pallbearers
will include: Jacob
Martinez, Chris Martinez, Wesley Jamison, Orlando Martinez, Jeremy
Poland, Marvin Jamison, and Chris Jamison.
Honorary pallbearers will be her step-grandchildren.
Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.

Revena Helen Castillo, age 69, passed away Tuesday, August 7,
2007 at her residence in Kermit, TX.
She was born Wednesday, April 13, 1938 in Lamesa, Dawson
County, TX to the late Andres and Maria (Silva) Castillo. She
worshiped at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was an
active member.
Those left behind to mourn her loss include three daughters:
Mary Helen Pando, of Kermit and Mary Lee Nickles and Alice
Cesena, both of Tulare, CA; two sons: Danny Holguin of Kermit, TX,
and Ruben Holguin of Modesto, CA; one sister:
Benita Sanchez of Farwell, TX; three brothers:
Victor Castillo of Portales, NM, Ruben Castillo of Clovis,
NM, Andy Schuman of Midland, TX, twenty-four grandchildren, and
forty-one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents:
Andres and Maria Castillo, two brothers, Joe Castillo and Tom
Schuman, and two sons, Henry and Leroy Holguin.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, August 10, 2007 at
Family Services Funeral Chapel officiated by Bryan Avila.
Pallbearers will include: Manuel Pando Jr., Ruben Pando,
Stephen Pando, Daniel Holguin Nickles, Tommy Schuman, Andy Schuman

Brawley
|
|
Herschel Glen Brawley, age 72, passed away on August 12, 2007
at his residence in Wink. Glen
was born March 30,1935 to Herschel Thomas and Clessie Elizabeth
(Witt) Brawley in Clovis, NM.
He graduated high school in Hobbs, NM and along with some
football buddies was involved in getting the bald eagle statue
donated and placed in front of the school.
He attended college at Texas Tech University.
Mr. Brawley retired from Texaco after more than 30 years as a
production foreman. He
was full of life and fun, always ready to carry on a conversation.
He never met a stranger and never had an enemy. He was a
loyal friend; still good friends with his high school crowd.
He loved his family and lived for his children and
grandchildren. He was
an avid fisherman and hunter and almost held a Boone and Crockett
world record.
He is survived by three daughters: Debora K. Carter and fiancé Richard Kyle of Wink, TX, Kelley
Rae Haynes of Atlanta, GA, and Gael Powers of Corpus Christi, TX;
one sister: Betty
Kennedy of Hobbs, NM; two grandchildren:
Lindsay Ryan Davis and husband Brandon Davis and Tim Garrett
Carter and fiancée Lindsay Walker; and four great-grandchildren:
Brennen Paige Davis, Brandon Chase Davis, Avery Belle Davis,
and Acelyn Grace Carter.
Preceding Mr. Brawley in death were his parents:
Herschel and Clessie Brawley and his son: Micca Glen Brawley,
who passed away in October 2005.
Funeral
services will be held 10 am, Friday, August 17, 2007 at Family
Services Funeral Chapel with The Reverend Henry Freund officiating. Pallbearers will include:

Hazel Horseman, age 71, went to be with her
Lord Sunday, August 19, 2007 from Winkler County Memorial Hospital. She was born Tuesday, February 18, 1936 in
Erath County, TX to the late Walter and Eva (McKamey) Adams.
Hazel was a homemaker, and was completely
devoted to her family. She loved her faithful dogs, as well as
visiting friends and playing card and dice games. She was a very active member of Belvue Baptist Church.
Those left behind to mourn the loss of Mrs.
Horseman include two sons: Jeff Horseman of Wink, TX, and Wayland
Steel and wife Faye of Edgewood, NM; two daughters: Wanda Henson and
husband Clifford of Hobbs, NM and Shelly Wilson and husband Royce of
Marble Falls, TX; nine grandchildren and twelve great-
grandchildren.
Mrs. Horseman was preceded in death by her parents:
Walter and Eva Adams; her husband:
Jim Horseman; two sisters: Norma Halmark and Nelda Peterson;
and one grandson: Stacy Wilson.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Tuesday,
August 21, 2007 officiated by Brother Danny

Bettie Sue Riley,
our loving mother and “Granny” passed away Friday, August 24,
2007 at Medical Center Hospital of Odessa.
Betty Sue was born August 16, 1933 to Armon and Mary Bickle
in Portales, NM. Bettie
married Monte Riley in Lovington, NM on September 1, 1951.
Together they had four children, James Lee, Monte Sue, Jonny,
and Sonya Lorrene.
She was preceded
in death by her husband Monte Riley October 31, 2000 and Sonya
Lorrene, an infant daughter in 1961.
Bettie lived and
worked in Kermit most of her life.
Her door was always open to any and everyone.
Bettie was always called “Granny” to everyone who ever
knew her.
She is survived
by her loving family: two sons, James Lee Riley and wife Sharon of
Odessa and Jonny Riley of Kermit, one daughter, Monte Sue (Sissy)
Pilkington and husband Pete of Kermit, three sisters, eight
brothers, eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces,
and nephews. All of
Kermit were her friends.
Services
will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Family Services
Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor.

Pablo Franco, age 89, of Jal passed away Monday, August 27,
2007 at his home. He
was born Sunday, August 04, 1918 in Coyame, Chihuahua, Mexico. He
married Delfina (Muniz) Franco on October 7, 1945 in Coyame,
Chihuahua, Mexico. Pablo also worked for many years at Merryman Construction.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife:
