Jose Angel Muņoz |
|
Jose
Angel Muņoz, age 51 of Kermit, went to be with his Lord Friday, November 18, 2005
after a long battle with cancer. He was born November 27, 1953 in Ojinaga,
Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Alfredo Muņoz and Rosa Perez.
Angel
worked for many years for Saul Con in Carlsbad, New Mexico and Brown
& Root out of Houston, Texas where he installed insulation before
becoming disabled from a car accident in 1990. He then spent most of
his time helping out at Spencer Brothers, Inc in Presidio sharing
his smile with all that entered.
He is
survived by his wife, Armida Sotelo Munoz of Ojinaga, Chihuahua,
Mexico; four sons, Angel Alfonzo Munoz and wife, Rosa, of Odessa,
Erik Munoz and wife, Ruth of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Jose Alfredo and
Daniel Munoz both of Ojinaga, Chihuahua; three duaghters, Rosa and
husband Arelio Ramos of Kermit, Yoland Munoz of Kermit and Elvia and
husband Rury Sanchez of Odessa; one stepson, Michael Anthony and
wife April Longoria of Greeley, Colorado; his mother, Rosa Perez;
his precious grandchildren and joy of his life, Aurelio and Diego
Ramos, Promese and Joseph Huntley, Fabian, Jazive and Leslie Munoz,
Michael and Richie Longoria and another on the way. He is also
survived by his brothers, Alfredo and Martha Munoz of Carlsbad, New
Mexico, Arturo and Estela Munoz of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Daniel and
Fransis Munoz of California and Alfonzo Munoz also of California.
His sisters include, Belzora and Raul Rioz of Crete, Nebraska,
Gloria and Juan Sotelo of Odessa, Elsa and Gilbert Lujan of Odessa
and Jusus Armendariz of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Liliana of
California. Angel had many aunts, uncles, cousins, brother-in-laws,
sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his father, Alfredo Munoz, brothers, Adolfo
Munoz and Estanelado Perez, sister Manuela Ruiz, step-father,
Adelino Correles and stepson, Angel Ray Longoria.
Rosary
was held Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 2 pm in Ojinaga, Mexico.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 3 pm at
Iglesia de Nuestro Padre Jesus. Interment was followed at El Panteon De Caņada
Ancha cemetery in Ojinaga, Mexico. Arrangements have been entrusted
to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Lindal Jean Cardwell Dunlop |

Lindal Jean Cardwell Dunlop, age 79 of
Kermit, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Medical Center
Hospital in Odessa. She was born June 17, 1926 in Roby, Texas to the
late Leslie and Marvin Rachel Cardwell.
She was a 51 year resident of Kermit and
was a member of the Church of Christ. Lindal was also a member of
the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin
of Kermit, one son, Mike Giesler and wife, Diane, of Atlanta, Texas,
one daughter, Jill Giesler Welch and husband, Sam, of Fritch, Texas,
two stepsons, Jack and wife, Mary Lea Dunlop, of Amarillo, Texas,
and Joe and wife, Candy Dunlop of Albuquerque, New Mexico, one
brother, Roland Cardwell and wife, Judy, of Sweetwater, Texas, two
sisters, Janell Brown of Kermit and Mildred Anderson and husband,
Tommy, of Sweetwater. She is also survived by eight grandchildren,
Lanny, Cody, Jason, Jonas, Cassidy, John, Susan and Carly and one
great-grandchild, Jack and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Memorial
Hospital Auxiliary or Wink Church of Christ.
Funeral Services will be held
Thursday, December 01, 2005 at 3 pm at Eastside Church of Christ
with Brother Brian McGonagill officiating.
Pallbearers will be her
grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Bob Huskey, Billy
Cotton, Leroy Michaelis and Weldon Hartley. Arrangements have been
entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Charles "Chuck" W. Glover |
|
Charles Glover, age 55, of Kermit,
passed away Thursday, December 01, 2005 at Medical Center Hospital
in Odessa. He was born October 03, 1950 in Brighton, Illinois to the
late Charles W. and Anna May (Poisel) Glover. Chuck had lived in
Kermit for the past 7 years, having moved here from Missouri.
He is survived by two sisters, Leatha
Tackett of Granite City, Illinois and Juanita Taylor of Witch Field,
Illinois, two brothers, Joe Glover of Wood River, Illinois and
Johnny Glover of Witch Field, Illinois, one nephew, Sonny Stewart
and wife, Crystal of Marble Hill, Missouri, one great-Nephew,
Matthew Stewart and one great-niece, Ashley Stewart. He is also
survived by his dear friends, the Smithhart family of Kermit.
Chuck was preceded in death by his
sister, Irma Wyatt and his great-niece Mary Lee Stewart.
Graveside services were held at 3 pm,
Tuesday, December 06, 2005 at Psalm 23 Cemetery in the Perry
Addition in Kermit.
Pallbearers will be Steven Smithhart,
Bobby Custer, Tommy Smithhart and Alan Smithhart. Arrangements have
been entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Maria Magdalena Hernandez Gonzales |
|
Maria Gonzales, age 73 of Kermit, passed
away at her home Sunday, December 04, 2005. She was born Friday,
July 22, 19323 in San Pedro, Chihuahua, Mexico to the late Roman and
Bernada (Gonzales) Hernandez. Maria was a homemaker and had been a
resident of Kermit for 10 years.
Matriarch of the family, she made sure
all was well nurtured both physically and spiritually. She was a
loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She leaves behind her husband of 45
years, Vicente Gonzales of Kermit, one son Lupe Marquez of Monahans,
three daughters Maria De La Luz Marquez of Odessa, Concepcion
Marquez of Chihuahua, Mexico and Noemi Gonzales of Dallas, two
brothers, Roman Hernandez and Kiko Hernandez both of Chihuahua,
Mexico, one sister Romanita Hernandez fo Coahuila, Mexico, eighteen
grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Maria was preceded in death by one
son, Vicente Gonzales, Jr and thirteen siblings.
Rosary was held at 7 pm, Wednesday,
December 07, 2005 at Family Services Funeral Chapel. Mass of
Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 pm, Thursday, December 08, 2005
at St Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit with Father Rudy Lacerna as
celebrant. Arrangements have been entrusted to Family Services
Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Josefina Pando Peņa |
|
Loving wife, mother and grandmother,
Josefina Peņa, age 80 of Kermit, passed away Thursday, December 08,
2005 at Winkler County Memorial Hospital. Josefina was born March
03, 1925 in Redford, Texas to the late Alfredo M. and Luisa A.
(Acosta) Pando. She married
Julio B. Peņa, Sr on October 31, 1945 in Redford and they settled in
Kermit in 1957. Together they were members of St Joseph Catholic
Church. Mrs. Peņa was a homemaker and loved to tend to the family.
She loved children and was known as "Mama Fin" to them.
She leaves behind her husband of 60
years, Julio B. Peņa, Sr of Kermit, two sons, Julio Peņa, Jr and
Oscar Peņa both of Kermit, one daughter Lourdes Luisa Ramirez of
Hobbs, New Mexico, her siblings Francis Nave of Andrews, Alonzo
Pando of Kermit, Alfredo Pando, Jr of Kermit, Almador Pando of
Andrews and Concha Domingues of Jal, New Mexico. She also leaves
behind four grandchildren, Rebecca, Jacob, Brianna and Alejandra,
one great-granddaughter, Victoria and numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Preceding her in death were two
brothers, Alberto and Abelardo Pando and one sister Yolanda
Carrasco.
Rosary was prayed at 7 pm, Sunday,
December 11, 2005 at Family Services Funeral Chapel. Mass of
Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 pm, Monday, December 12, 2005
at St Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit with Father John Lucido as
celebrant. Interment followed at Kermit Cemetery. Arrangements have
been entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

James Irvin "Jim" Horseman |
|
Jim Horseman, age 81, of Wink, Texas,
went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 09, 2005. He was the
only child of Clyde and Lillie (Halford) Horseman, born Friday,
January 04, 1924 in Brown County, Texas.
As a young man, Jim served his country
in the US Army during World War II in Germany and Holland. He
married Hazel Adams, his beloved wife of 47 years, in January of
1958. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Jim was a pumper in
the oil field for Sun Oil Company for 15 years. He was a hard
worker, who loved to fish and hunt when he could get away. He was
devoted to his family and enjoyed their company, especially his
grandchildren. He also enjoyed being with his trust dog, Smokie.
Those left behind to cherish his
memory are his wife, Hazel Horseman of Wink, three sons, Jeff
Horseman of Wink, Wayland Steele of Edgewood, New Mexico and Barry
Horseman of Midland, two daughters, Wanda Lara of Hobbs, New Mexico
and Shelly Wilson of Marble Falls, Texas, ten grandchildren and
fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one
grandson, Stacy Wilson.
Graveside services to honor his
memory were held on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 11 am at Kermit
Cemetery with Brother Danny Fitzpatrick officiating. Honorary
Pallbearers were Clifford Henson, Royce Wilson, Paul Kennon, Jeff
Horseman, Wayland Steele, Barry Horseman, David Gonzales, Robert
Gonzales and Travis Steele. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Scottie Ann Ellinger |
|
Scottie Ann Ellinger, age 60, lifetime
resident of Kermit, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at
the Kermit Healthcare Center. She was born Monday, November 12, 1945
in Monahans, Texas to Scott Winfield and Georgia Juanita (Cummins)
Ellinger. She was a member of the Community Church.
Those left behind to cherish her love
and memories include three nephews, Roger Williams of Lubbock, David
Williams of Mineral Wells, and Scott Williams of Kermit; one niece,
Cindy Buscaglia of Midland, fifteen great-nieces and nephews:
Dominique Roberts, Bethany Williams, Aubrey Williams, Lisa Williams,
Adrienne Williams, Maria "Betty" Zuniga, Nick Tenney, Jeremiah Lee,
Jonathan Lee, Nick Williams, Chris Williams, Justin Williams,
Alberto Zuniga and Frank Zuniga, and three great-great nieces and
nephews. Two uncles also survive her, Dick Cummins of Andrews and A.
C. "George" Cummins of Midland.
Her parents and one sister, Mary
Alice Williams, preceded her in death.
Funeral services in her honor were
held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at 2 pm at the Community Church
with Reverend Henry Freund officiating. Interment followed at Kermit
Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Greg
Hollingshead, John Mitchilite, Jaime Ramos, Bubba Bowerman, Nick
Tenney and Shawna Bowerman. Honorary Pallbearers were Ricky Compton,
Jeff Compton and J. O. Compton. Arrangements are entrusted to Family
Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Mass was celebrated, Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 3:00 pm at
Iglesia de Nuestro Parde Jesus. Interment was at El Panteon De
Caņada Ancha, Ojinaga, Mexico.
Arrangements
were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

Francis Herman "Buck" Saplin |

Francis Herman
"Buck" Saplin, age 67, of Jal, New Mexico went to be with his Lord
on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Winkler County Memorial Hospital,
Kermit, Texas. He entered this life on Saturday, April 9, 1938. He
was born to the late Herman Francis Saplin and Hilda E. (Oakley)
Saplin in Blakley, Pennsylvania. He had been a resident of Jal since
1973. He retired after 25 years as a Lease Operator for
Texaco. Prior to that, he and his family made their home in Laurel,
Mississippi.
"Buck" had
served his country in the Air Force as a Jet Mechanic. He had also
been a Mason, two times past Master of Jal Lodge #65 A. F. & A. M.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Jal where he
volunteered in several capacities. A Christian man who took care of
his family and community, "Buck" was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed
everything from fishing and hunting to hiking, bicycling and
gardening. He was an extremely compassionate man who was happiest
when finding ways to help others. He had a cheerful, child-like
spirit, which brightened the day of those around him. He dearly
loved his children and grandchildren; they were the light of his
life.

to cherish his love and memories include his wife of 47 years, Ann
(Bonds) Saplin of Jal, NM; his step-mother, Edna Saplin of
Brooktondale, NY; two sons: Keith Saplin and wife, Deanna, of
Owasso, OK; Steve Saplin and wife, Lisa, of Troy, IL; one daughter:
Karri (Saplin) Roden and husband, Keith, of Plainview, Texas; one
brother: Robert Saplin and wife, Marsha, of Marathon, New York; one
sister: Sandra Vosberg of Cincinnatus, NY, and six grandchildren:
Keith, Adam, Greg, Andrew, Leah, and Breanna.
Funeral
Services will be held Friday, December 23, 2005 at 2 pm, at the
Calvary Baptist Church in Jal with Brother Alan Speed officiating.
Pallbearers are L. W. "Red" Ragain, Bill James, Mike Pearce, Richard
Posey, Dean Fuller and Doug Beckett. Honorary Pallbearers include
John Allen, Andy Adams, Theo Essman, Tommy Seyler, Gary Watkins, and
Odus Kelley. Interment will follow at Jal Cemetery.
The family
requests that memorials in his name be made to Calvary Baptist
Church, PO Box 1150, Jal, NM 88252. Services were entrusted to
Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit, TX.

Clementa Carrasco Marquez |
|
Clementa
Marquez, age 81 of Kermit, went to be with her Lord Thursday
December 22, 2005. She was born June 1, 1924 in Redford, Tx. to the
late Manuel and Anita (Bejarano) Carrasco. Clementa was a homemaker
and had lived in Kermit for 48 years.
Clementa married
Epifanio Ramos Marquez in September 17, 1945 and he preceded her in
death in 1978. She was a very active member of St Joseph Catholic
Church in Kermit. A loving wife, mother, and grand-mother, she
devoted all her time and effort to caring for her family. She loved
sewing and gardening also.
Those left to
cherish her love and memory are 4 sons: Raul Marquez of Midland, TX,
Fortino (Tino) Marquez of Los Angeles, CA, Manuel and Mario Marquez
both of Kermit, 5 daughters: Hortensia Hernandez and Anita Hernandez
both of Eunice, NM, Escolastica (Essie) Hernandez, Ramona Marquez,
and Elva Quiroz all of Kermit, 1 brother: Alberto Carrasco, Sr. of
Kermit, 27 grand-children, and 40 great-grandchildren.
Mrs Marquez
was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Leonardo, Raphael, Jesus, and
Armando Carrasco, 3 sisters: Josefina Ramirez, Julia Escovedo, and
Carmen Castro.
Rosary was
7:00 pm Monday December 26, 2005 at Family Services Funeral Parlor
in Kermit. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 2:00 pm Tuesday
December 27, 2005 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit with Fr.
Rudy Lacerna officiating. Interment followed at Kermit Cemetery.
Pallbearers were; Raul Marquez, Manuel Marquez, Tino Marquez, Mario
Marquez, Tony Hernandez Jr., Israel Aranda Jr., Oscar Quiroz Jr.,
and Raymond Hernandez Jr.
Honorary
Pallbearers were; Raul Marquez Jr., Beatriz Hernandez, and Brian
Marquez.
In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be sent to St Joseph Catholic Church in
Kermit. Arrangements entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of
Kermit.
