Mrs.
Christina "Tina" Porras (Vara) Jaquez, age 81, passed away
Thursday, August 29, 2002, at her residence. Tina was born October 27,
1920 in Del Rio, TX and was a resident of Kermit for 57 years. She
married Jose "Joe" DeLaLuz Jaquez on September 27, 1936 in Ft.
Stockton, TX. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1999. Mrs. Jaquez
was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters: Janie Woodard, Delia Heredia and
Christina Perez all of Kermit; three sons: Enrique Jaquez of Kermit,
Joe Jaquez of Deming, NM., David Jaquez of Artesia, NM.; sisters:
Candida Munoz of Kermit, Conrada Jaquez of Andrews, TX and brother:
Jose Vara of Phoenix, AZ.; Fifteen grandchildren and twelve
great-grandchildren
Rosary will be recited at Family Services Funeral Parlor at 7:00 PM
Monday, September 2, 2002. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
11:00 AM Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with
Father John Lucido as celebrant. Interment will follow at Kermit
Cemetery in Kermit, TX.
Pallbearers are Johnny Lozano, Michael Heredia, Mark Heredia, Ronnie
Lozano, Jacob Jaquez and Cody Wayne Thomas.

Marie (Henson) Hill |
Mary
Marie Hill, age 75, of Kermit, TX, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at
her residence. A homemaker, she was born February 22, 1927 in River
Mines, MO to William Ira and Sarah Elizabeth (Henson) Lincoln.Mrs. Hill
was a resident of Kermit for 28 years, having moved here from Iron
Mountain, MO. She married Elmer Roy Hill in Carson City, NV on June 5,
1975. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1979. Son, Carter Counts
and brothers, Fred Travis and William Lincoln also preceded her in
death.
She is survived by seven daughters: Ruth Carson of Monahans, TX;
Shirley Verdin of FL; Mary Lee Hughes of Patton, MO; Maggie Smithhart
and Wanda Melton of Kermit, TX; Mary Eva Williams of Bonne Terre, MO
and Christina Harris of Philo, Ill. Four sons: Joe Henson of Kermit,
TX; Lee Henson of Big Springs, TX; Billy Ames of Iron Mountain, MO and
Thomas Henson of Farmington, MO. One brother, Wesley Lincoln of
Jacksonville, OR. Twenty-four grandchildren, eighteen
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers are Tommy Smithhart, James Johnson, Marty Belcourt, Joey
Hughes, Robert Custer and Steven Smithhart. Honorary pallbearers are
Allen Smithhart, Donnie Perry and Christopher Isbell.
Arrangements and services are entrusted to and will be held at Family
Services Funeral Parlor at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 4, 2002,
with Minister Russ Smith, SR. officiating. Interment will be at Psalm
23 Cemetery in the Perry Addition in Kermit, TX.

Mr.
Robert Ray Boner, age 48, of Kermit, died Thursday, September 5, 2002,
at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Mr. Boner a life long resident of
Kermit, born February 26, 1954, was the son of the late Samuel Thomas
Boner and the late Elsie Odessa Elmore.
Mr. Boner had worked in the oilfields as a driller and had retired
after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by three daughters: Rachel Boner, Amy Renko and Jenny
Jordan of Eastland, TX. Three sons: Dusty Boner of Kerrville, TX, Rusty
Boner of Eastland, TX and Scott Boner of Houston, TX., Two sisters:
Phyllis Shropshire and Billie Durham of Kermit and two brothers:
Stanley Boner of Kerrville, TX and Roger Boner of Woodville, TX. and
nine granchildren.
Mr. Boner is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one sister;
Margaret Sue Allford and two brothers; Earnest and Joe Boner.
Services were held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 8, 2002 at Family
Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit, TX

Vicente Hernandez Gonzales, Jr., age 41, of Kermit, TX, died Saturday,
September 7, 2002 in Carlsbad, NM. He was born May 7, 1961 in Phoenix,
AZ. to Vicente and Maria Magdalena (Hernandez) Gonzales, Sr.Mr.
Gonzales was a resident of Kermit for the past 11 years, having moved
here from Odessa and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cruz Sanchez Medrano, Daughters, Adriana
Gonzales of Jal, NM, Valerie Gonzales of Kermit; Step Daughters,
Jessica Sanchez and Priscilla Sanchez of Midland,TX; Step Son, Justin
Sanchez of Kermit; Three Sisters, Noemi Gonzales, Concha Hernandez and
Maria DeLaLuz Nino of Mexico; One Brother, Lupe Marquez of Grandfalls
and One grandchild.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at Family
Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit. Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic
Church with Father John Lucido officiating. Interment will be at Jal
Cemetery in Jal, NM.

Hector Daniel Polanco, Sr., age 57, of Kermit, TX, passed away Monday,
September 16, 2002 at his home. Mr. Polanco was a self employed
carpenter.
Born March 7, 1945 in Ojinaga, Mexico to the late Rafael Planco and the
late Margarita (Galindo) Polanco, Hector was a resident of Kermit for
the past 21 years. He is survived by his wife Olivian (Bejarano)
Polanco; Daughters: Blanca Estella Ramos and Sandra Polanco of Kermit
and Elizabeth Campos of Presidio, TX.; Sons: Hector Polanco, Jr. and
Eloy Polanco of Kermit. Six Sisters: Carlota Arreola and Lydia Carrasco
of Kermit, Eva Samaniego of Odessa, Maria Bustamante of Andrews, Juana
Acosta of Fort Stockton, and Leonila Carrasco of Ojinaga, Mexico. One
Brother: Jose Polanco of Kermit and eleven grandchildren.
Prayer Services are scheduled at 8:00 PM, Tuesday, September 17, 2002
at 215 West Campbell, Funeral Services are scheduled at 10:00 AM,
Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at the same residence. Interment will
follow at Kermit Cemetery

Rose
Mary Flores, age 61, of Kermit, TX, passed away Tuesday, September 17,
2002 at her home. Mrs. Flores was a resident of Kermit for 11 years,
having moved here from Roswell, NM.
Born September 4, 1941 in Roswell, New Mexico to the late Juan Najar
and the late Delores (Benavides) Najar, she is survived by her husband
Porfirio Flores of Artesia, NM; Two daughters: Christina and Gabriela
Flores of Kermit; Two sons: Larry Vegara and Richard Najar of Roswell,
NM; Two sisters: Nelly Najar and Beatrice Najar of Roswell, NM; Three
brothers: Lencho and Jesus Najar of Roswell, NM and Phillip Najar of
Artesia, NM; Six grandchildren: Marc, Daniel, and I'Mari Flores, Larry,
Larrisa and Amber Vegara and one great grandchild: Angelina Gallegos.
Pallbearers were: Edmundo Briones, Alonzo Murillo, Manuel Salazar,
Albert Munoz, Simon Estrada and Porfirio Mendez. Prayer Services were
held Thursday, September 19, 2002, Funeral Services were held Friday,
September 20, 2002, both at Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.
Interment followed at Kermit Cemetery

Marie Dixon |
Mildred
Marie Dixon, age 88, of Kermit passed away Thursday, September 19,2002
at her residence. A homemaker, she was born May 11, 1914 in Ringling,
OK to John Richard and Myrtle Marie (Whisnant) Tucker and was a member
of the First Baptist Church.Mrs. Dixon was a resident of Kermit for 55
years, having moved here from Troop, TX in 1947. She married Shelton
Woodrow Dixon in Hilton, OK in 1934. He preceded her in death on April
19, 1991. Brothers Stanley and Richard Tucker also preceded her in
death.
She is survived by daughter Jerry and her husband, Sam Vest of
Monahans, TX; Two sons: Joe Blake Dixon of Camp Verde, AZ and Eddie and
his wife Judy Dixon of De Leon, TX. One sister: Euda Raley of Marble
Falls, TX; Eight grandchildren; Fourteen great grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday, September 22, 2002 at
Kermit Cemetery.

Weldon
Brown of Greenwood Village, Colorado, died Saturday, September 28,
2002, at the Hospice of Boulder County Care Center in Louisville,
Colorado of lung cancer. He was 81.
He was born October 10, 1920, the youngest of three children, to Arthur
Hutchinson Brown and Mary Roberta Reese in Rotan, Texas, in the midst
of a West Texas oil boom. He was the valedictorian of his Wink High
School class.
Mr. Brown served in the Army Corps of Engineers in World War II where
his contributions include building airfields on the Aleutian Islands
and building the Alcan Highway connecting Alaska and the United States.
He obtained the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
On December 16, 1945, he married Marggie Lee McDougal in Wink, Texas.
They were married 51 years until her death in 1997.
Mr. Brown graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station in
1947 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Brown was a lifelong
Aggie enthusiast.
Mr. Brown’s engineering and leadership abilities were highly regarded
in the oil and gas industry. This led to a variety of challenging
assignments for Amoco Production Company in a number of western states
from Utah to Texas spanning 36 years. He retired in 1984 as an
Operations Manager for Amoco’s Denver Region.Mr. Brown will be
remembered as a fine, Christian gentleman who loved and respected his
country. He was a faithful, devoted husband; a loving, generous father
and grandfather; a successful engineer; an inspiring leader; a handyman
extraordinaire; and an avid fisherman, golfer and outdoorsman. Mr.
Brown had a mischievous gleam in his eye and a wonderful, wry wit. He
was a man of his word. Finally, he will be remembered for his tough
battles against cancer throughout which he remained gracious,
dignified, and uncomplaining.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his
sister, Eleanor Weathermon. He is survived by his four children, Jack
Brown, Jr., of Superior, Colorado; David Brown of Highlands Ranch,
Colorado; Richard Brown of Orlando, Florida; Sandra Sartor and her
husband Joe of Longmont, Colorado; his three grandchildren, Lyndsay
Lancaster, Samuel Sartor, and Lillian Sartor; his brother, Charles
Brown and his wife Mary Lou of Fort Worth, Texas; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
at Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit, Texas. Services will be
held on Saturday, October 5, at 2:00 pm at The First Baptist Church in
Wink, Texas, with burial following at Kermit Cemetery. The services
will be officiated by Larry Landusky and Boyd Fallwell. Pallbearers
will be Jack Brown, Jr., David Brown, Richard Brown, Joe Sartor, Vince
VanZago, Chris Rushing, Dean Rushing, and Lance Landusky.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Texas A&M Foundation,
Mechanical Engineering Scholarship Fund, 401 George Bush Drive, College
Station, TX 77840, in the name of Jack W. Brown.

Ann
Wood, age 67, of Kermit, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday,
October 5, 2002. Mrs. Wood was born December 2, 1934 in Birmingham, AL
to the late Hugh Meadows and Amanda Martha Brady. She married Vernon
Omega Wood, JR on September 19, 1954 in Kingsland, GA
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a
respected friend and a devout Christian. Mrs. Wood was a member of
Baptist Temple Church in Kermit.
She was a resident of Kermit for 47 years, having moved here from
Brunswick, GA in 1955. She is survived by her husband, Vernon, of 48
years; Five Daughters: Sharon Joyce Sellers of Fort Worth, Theresa
Diane Wood, Phyllis Ann Thomas, Sheila Gale Martin and Martha Lynn
Richardson of Wink, TX. Three Brothers: Jim and Ken Meadows of Atlanta,
GA and Johnny Meadows of Connecticut. Ten grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Services are scheduled at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at
Baptist Temple Church in Kermit with Brother Richard Coffman
officiating. Pallbearers will be Bryan Martin, Randy Thomas, Gayland
Richardson, Roy Long, John Wingrove and Jamie Harding. Interment to
follow at Kermit Cemetery.

Wesley Holt, age 66, of Kermit, TX, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002, at
Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Mr. Holt was born May 18, 1936 in
Walters, OK to the late Albert Holt and Edna Collins. He was a retired
welder.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Shirley Holt, of 12 years; Two
daughters: Carla Akins of Kermit, Tonya Snow of Jal, NM; Five sons:
Clifford Holt of Carrollton, TX, Darrell Holt of Stover, MO, Robert
Holt of Farmington, NM and James Holt of Tyler, TX, Steve Mantooth of
Jal, NM; Eleven grandchildren and Six great-grandchildren.
Grave side services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 12,
2002 at Kermit Cemetery with Brother Richard Coffman officiating.
Interment to follow at Kermit Cemetery.

C. Anchondo, age 35, of Kermit, TX, died Monday, October 14, 2002, in
Ward County. Mr Anchondo was employed as a truck driver by
Eddins-Walcher in Kermit. He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church
and served as President of the K-Band Booster Club.
Mr. Anchondo was a resident of Kermit for 13 years, having moved here
from Pecos. He was born February 9, 1967 to Bernardo Anchondo and Maria
Elena Cano in Ojinaga, Mexico.
He married Maria Peña on June 24, 1988 in Pecos, Tx. He is
survived by
his wife, Maria; Two daughters: Jessi Ann and Arianna Anchondo of
Kermit, TX; One son: Joe Brian Anchondo of Kermit, TX. He is also
survived by his parents, Three sisters: Anna Alicia Rodriquez of
Odessa, TX, Marisol Anchondo of Baytown, TX and Carmina Anchondo of
Pecos, Tx; Two Brothers: Benny Anchondo, JR of Pasadena, TX and
Guillermo Anchondo of Pecos, TX
Rosary will be held at the Chapel at Family Services Funeral Parlor at
7 PM, Thursday, October 17, 2002. Mass of Christian Burial will be held
at 2 PM, Friday, October 18, 2002 at St Joseph Catholic Church in
Kermit, with Fr. John Lucido officiating. Interment will follow at
Kermit Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Guillermino Anchondo, Benny Anchondo, Roddy Chavez,
Oscar Baeza, Ishmael Peña and Manuel Peña.

Lonnie
Allen Chandler, Sr., age 85, of Monahans, died Friday, November
1, 2002, at Home Hospice House in Odessa. Mr. Chandler was born
November 12, 1916 in Los Animas, CO to the late Alonzo Isaac Chandler
and Leonora Wilson. He was a resident of Monahans for 36 years having
moved there from Kermit in 1966.
He married Cleo Charlene Walton on August 11, 1944 in Socorro, NM. She
preceded him in death on September 22, 1998. Mr. Chandler served in
WWII with the Army Air Corps and was a retired mechanic.
He is survived by his daughters: Shirley King and husband, Wayland, of
Imperial; Lynn Richardson, and husband Gary, of Kermit; and son, Allen
Chandler of Monahans. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3
great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 2 sisters: Mary Edna
Barnes and Hazel Knox; 2 brothers: Rufus and Marion Chandler; 1
granddaughter, Kimberly Jene King and 1 great grandson: Darin Layne
Clark.
Pallbearers are Lonnie Richardson, Michael Richardson, Jeffery
Richardson, David King, Allen-Michael Chandler and Terry Hansen.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bill and Ben Barnes. Services are scheduled
2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at Family Services Funeral Parlor
Chapel with Mr. Brian McGonagill officiating. Interment will follow in
Kermit Cemetery.

Bessie Lorene (Wills) Hunter, age 85, of Kermit, TX, passed away
Monday, November 11, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Kermit. Born January
3, 1917 in Granite, OK, Mrs. Hunter was the only child of the late Bert
Hall Wills and the late Winnie Agnes Copelin
On December 26, 1941, she married the love of her life, Thomas Keith
Hunter in Mangum, OK. Both were members of the Baptist Church. He
preceded her in death in 1998
She is survived by one daughter: Mrs. Linda Emerson and her husband,
Billy of Jal,NM and one son: Mr. Edwin Keith Hunter and his wife, Susan
of Lampasas, TX. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 11 great
grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
On January 28, 2001, she celebrated a family of five generations with
the birth of her great-great granddaughter, Kaylee
Pallbearers will consist of family members. Services are scheduled at
10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at the Church of God in Jal, NM
with Brother Michael May officiating. Interment will follow in Kermit
Cemetery.

Mary Ann
Thompson, age 69 of Kermit, went home to be with the Lord Saturday,
November 23, 2002. Mrs. Thompson was born to Sonny Lacey and Johnnie
Mae Cook on August 14, 1933 in Rosebud, TX and had been a resident of
Kermit for 48 years.
Mary Ann married the late James Lee Thompson in 1948 in Cameron, TX. He
preceded her in death in 1976. She was a homemaker and a member of the
West Side Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her
father, two daughters, one sister, and one Grandson, Edward Draughan.
She leaves behind her mother, Johnnie Mae Cook, six daughters: Mary
Walker of Midland, Terease Joyce of Lubbock, and Jessie Alexander, Mary
Francis Thompson, Bessie Lee and Dorothy Henry all of Kermit. One son,
Billy Ray Thompson SR. of Kermit; Two sisters: Louise Cox of Kermit,
and Viola Rucker of El Paso. 19 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren,
numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Pallbearers are: M.V. Williams, Juan Vasquez, Tommy Jeffrey, Carroll
Samuels, James Butler and Tommy Solomon. Honorary Pallbearers are:
Charles Joyce, Ronny Walker, Jonathon Cross, James Alexander, Robert
Lee and James Thompson.
Services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at West Side
Church of Christ in Kermit. Interment will follow in Kermit Cemetery.

W. O. Hunt, Jr., age 75, passed away December 6, 2002, at his
residence in Kermit, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church and
served in the US Army during World War II. He was also a member of VFW
Post 6284, American Legion Post 339 and the Kermit Lodge # 1258 AF
& AM.
Mr. Hunt was born October 16, 1927 in Abilene, TX to the late William
Ollie Hunt and Exa Lee (Burns) Hunt. He was a life long resident of
Kermit and had retired as self employed welder.
He is survived by his niece: Nancy Boddy of Albuquerque, NM and many
close friends who will miss him dearly.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 9, 2002, at
Kermit Cemetery with Reverend Tom Reynolds and Russ Smith Sr. Minister
officiating. Interment will follow at Kermit Cemetery.

Carrell, age 72, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2002 at his residence
in Kermit. He was born Saturday, December 6, 1930 in Brownfield, TX to
the late Joseph Willis and Fay (Wright) Carrell. Mr. Carrell was a
retired self employed insulator and was a member of Belvue Baptist
Church. He married Fay Evelyn Foster October 10, 1950 in Roswell, NM.
She preceded him in death December 4, 2001 and was also preceded in
death by one son Rusty Carrell in 1995. Mr. Carrell was a resident of
Kermit for 36 years having moved here from Jal, NM in 1966.
He is survived by two sons: Don Carrell of Jal, NM and Joe Carrell of
Wimberley, TX. Four sisters: Evelyn Matthews and Ann Adams of Hobbs,
NM, Vie Marshall and Sue Carrell of Carlsbad, NM. Two brothers: Henry
Carrell of Borger, TX, and Fred Carrell of Carlsbad, NM.
Funeral Services will be held at Belvue Baptist Church 3:00 PM Tuesday,
December 12, 2002 with Bro. Alan Speed officiating. Interment to follow
at Kermit Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Don W. Carrell, Wes Carrell, Scooter Holley, Vince
Williams, Tiffany Carrell, and Marshall Carrell. Honoray Pallbearers
will be: Dub King, Jimmy Norman, and Jack Wright.
Memorial contributions may be made to Belvue Baptist Church Hostess
Committee.

Ester
(Villalobos) Carrasco, age 88, of Kermit, passed away Saturday,
December 28, 2002, at Medical
Center Hospital in Odessa. Mrs. Carrasco was born January 23, 1914 in
Chihuahua, Mexico to the late
Toribio Villalobos and the late Conception (Jurado) Villalobos.
She married Lorenzo Carrasco in 1968 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He preceded
her in death in March 1989. Mrs. Carrasco was a baptist and a homemaker
and was a resident of Kermit for 1 1/2 years having moved here from
Chihuahua, Mexico.
She is survived by Thirty Five grandchildren and numerous
great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday, December 30, 2002 at 3:00 PM at Family
Services Funeral Chapel with
interment to follow at Kermit Cemetery.
